Hi all, I’m 53 and just been for six month check up and pressures have gone up to 22/23 and now have to have a second op on my right eye. I already have an I-stent. I have to have cataract and Hydrus Microstent. Has anyone had this stent, I know up its new . Three weeks of anxious waiting ahead of the op. Thanks everyone

Hello. As you are having a cataract operation, then it does make sense to try another minimally invasive implant. The Hydrus has been around for quite a few years now and is known for it's scaffolding ability to help keep the drainage canal open.I hope someone who has had the Hydrus implant gets back to you. Unfortunately, we do not have someone you can talk to about this either, as no one has come forward. If you feel in the future you would be happy to speak to someone on the phone about this, who themselves are awaiting this operation, then they and we would be very grateful.

Thanks Helen. I think for me it’s the visual imbalance that I am more upset about and how I can manage with a minus 1 eye and a minus 11 eye prescription. My optician suggests a contact lens in one eye and as I’ve been wearing glasses for 45 years that is a little daunting that I will have to rely on a contact lens for all my vision. As far as I am aware I don’t have a cataract in my other eye but he may have to just does the lens anyway so that I have decent vision. It’s all a bit overwhelming to be honest xx

Hi CC08, I’m not sure how helpful I can be, but just wanted to reach out as I can relate to how overwhelming all this can be having seen a consultant for cataract and then found out I have glaucoma too. I’m afraid I don’t know anything about the stents, but I read what you said about your concern of the visual imbalance. My optician told me I had cataract in my right eye and what looked like early cataract in my left. I don’t know if this makes the difference, but like you I am severely near sighted with -10 and -11 prescriptions. When I saw the consultant he said with a prescription such as mine they would operate on both eyes. Obviously I don’t know if that would be the case if there was no sign at all of cataract in the other eye, but I suppose they have to address the imbalance in some way. I hope the op all goes well for you x

Thanks for your response. I don’t have any cataract in my left eye and the consultant advised he won’t consider any treatment on my left until all was well with the right eye. It may be that I wear just one contact lens in the bad eye, not that I’ve ever worn contact lenses. Will keep you posted. Op on 11th x
