Appointment update

Hi all

Had a very good consultation yesterday with consultant who had time to answer my questions. Turns out I am just very sensitive to every drug that I have been given. Have to keep taking them but switched to preservative free. Still need help with BP, sleep and anxiety issues from GP. Surgery postponed for now.

You must be so relieved Crafted, thank goodness you were finally listened to and a diagnosis given. Hopefully all your awful side effects will start to diminish now you are on preservative free. Is this the consultant you will continue to see in the future? I do hope so. Your sleep and anxiety issues might start to improve now you have your eye drops sorted out. I'm very glad you had such a positive consultation. X

Thank you. I hope things improve too. I think the BP issues were because I changed the timings of pilocarpine and dosage dropped from 4 times a day to 3. Consultant agreed that our bodies get used to having the drug and its missing a dose! Consultant going to contact GP again for me. I should get the new prescription through in a couple of days. Regarding work situation I will have to go in to work base in a few weeks time.

Your appointment was informative which I personally prefer and it's really interesting about your BP and the pilocarpine. Hopefully GP is on the ball too and your new prescription will have a positive effect. Are you feeling up to going into work yet or not ?

Not really, I randomly fall asleep when I was not trying to sleep in the day. I don't have to go in for a few weeks yet and will be reviewed again and I don't have to work alone as I normally would. Have shielded partner since 2019 and although he has had both vaccines he only has 8 per cent protection as he is immuno suppressed. No can't say I am happy about this but its not unexpected.

So you have the extra concern about your partner too, no wonder you have been anxious. You don't really need the extra stress of knowing you have a work review coming up. I would not be happy either. Has your GP been of any help regarding your work situation or is it all down to your work place occupational health ?

Hi just got one of preservative free drops through so far it's Cosopt which is Dorzolomide and Timolol combo. Pharmacy do not have any preservative free Pilocarpine so not sure what that's called.

Still waiting to hear when my irridotomy is going to be done, but ok as currently stopped stressing over it . My brother in law had a stroke a week and half ago ( still in hospital, but doing ok ) and not long back from visiting my sister so my mind has been on that .

Oh my goodness you are certainly having a tough time at the moment. Sorry to hear about BiL but great that he is doing OK. Appt for irridotomy will come through in due course and in the meantime be kind and tolerant with yourself and try to keep your stress to a minimum. I have just started doing mindful 10 minute meditations on utube with Andy Puddicombe, (HEADSPACE) very relaxing and he has a soothing but normal speaking voice. There is also an app. x

Thank you . Been an emotional rollercoaster as my sister lives two and half hours away from me and doesn’t drive , and the hospital is an hours drive from her . Just her and her hubby , so no children .

That meditation sounds ideal .

Look after yourself too x

You have such a lot on at the moment it's even more important that you are able to take some time for yourself to do things that you enjoy and to de stress I hope the meditations work out for you and things settle down soon. x

Glad you now have the preservative free drops and you have gone to 3x a day with the pilocarpine, a lot more manageable than 4x.
