What were the symptoms and how did they get to this diagnose? I've only read about it.

Firstly, if you have severe symptoms then you made need high doses of steroids to clear your lungs. A combination of anti fungal drugs such as Itroconozle, steroids and perhaps leukotriene antagonists may be used; it will depend on how severe your symptoms are. You may simply get away with a steroid inhaler. I wish you good luck with your specialist because chest physicians vary in their approach and treatments.

Hello, I have Chronic Pulmonary Aspergillosis (CPA) and an aspergillus nodule in my left lung. Just diagnosed back in August. After getting nowhere with the lack of respiratory specialists in my local area -we have vacancies for 4 respiratory specialists which have nort been filled since 2011, one specialist who retired around 2011 has come out of retirement twice! Anyway I digress. I asked for a referral to the National Aspergillosis Centre at University Hospital South Manchester. The best thing I ever did. I am getting excellent treatment and follow up. The Docs here hadn't even heard of Aspergillosis so it is great to go to the best place. I have visited 4 times since last August but doing so well on the medication now that I will have a Skype consultation next month and then go and see them in July and have another X-ray. Pleased to say that at the last visit in January the nodule wa shrinking. Not getting side effects after 4 months on Itraconazole and feeling a whole lot better. Still don't have a specialist to look after me down here and doing my best to keep ahead of my asthma and Bronchiectasis. I don't cough as much and my peak flow is getting better so think that the aspergillosis was causing most of these symptoms. Break flow is stil good now when I feel I have a cold coming on. Definiately worth the 6 hour drive and overnight stay.

Hope you get good treatment wherever you go for treatment.

Hi just found this site after the BBC News piece this morning and don't wish to seem like a mercenary ! but would like to raise awareness of our products and services which are unique to ourselves which we believe will help alleviate the symptoms associated with Mould. We offer 3 services Kill Prevent & Protect whereby we can 1) kill mould and their spores 2) prevent mould growth and 3) protect properties from Fungus, Moulds, Toxins and VOC's.

Not sure it's the 'done thing' to put mobile or website address here do will refrain for now.

Gordon.
