Vitamin D supplementation

I have been taking a 25mcg tablet of this for the past couple of years, have also been taking two high strength fish oil capsules per day in the hope that these would help my idiopathic neuropathy.

I stupidly didn't realize that fish oil capsules also contain vitamin D and so I am a bit concerned that I have been overdosing on this vitamin.

Now too scared to take anything:(

My understanding is that if your vit d was too high you'd definitely know about it. The symptoms are quite noticeable. I was told my vit d was deficient (I think it was 11?) 2.5 years ago, took 20,000 units from.gp for 6 weeks then maintenance dose of 25 u which I still take now. After a year I was still low, 2 months ago I was ok, GP told me to keep taking the 25 u. Can you ask your GP or specialist to check your vit d? My rheumy usually just bungs it on the blood forms every 12 months after I asked her to.

I too was low but couldn’t take the high once a week dose so was on a lower dose everyday it took well over 18 months to get up to tolerable levels but Dr now refuses to do Vit D blood test. Says they don’t do them anymore just put you in Vit d anyway! I’m on 800iu a day but am now finding that a bit much so have cut it back to every other day which seems to suit me fine. I think it’s just a matter of trial and error to see what suits you best! Hope this helps

You can do VitD testing at home for 28 GBP's from City Assays in Birmingham. Website of the same name ... Don't forget the co-factors - magnesium and VitK2-MK7

Google dr. Ernesto Coimbra in Brazil. He’s the guru of Vit D ... states that any adult can safely take 20,000 IU D3 ... . Uses it to treat MS and other immune illnesses.

Two good websites for you to read more ! VitD is fat soluble so best taken with a fat containing meal or with coconut oil !

In the winter I take 3 of the 25 mcg tablets each day and I am not at the top of the range for my last blood test.
