FND & Lock Jaw?

Greetings, FND Hope Friends:

I am finally heading off to visit with an otolaryngologist this week to address the random issues related to lock jaw that I have been having since the disorder started causing all sorts of major issues for me. I was wondering if anyone else experiences the teeth chattering moments?

My symptoms are very random and may/may not include all of the following:

1. teeth chattering (not cold at all)

2. jaws locking/attempting to lock

3. issues with swallowing from time to time

I stopped going to the emergency room when all things were happening. The bloodwork would always show various markers were elevated, but there wasn't anything that could be done. It was turning into a total waste of time/money for no assistance at all.

My current neurologist wants me to visit to rule out anything further, but still thinking the FND is the culprit.

FND is supposed to be s "rule in" diagnosis, so ask for her an explanation of why she thinks it could be FND.

I have heard of people having swallowing problems, head turning to one side and difficulty eating and I wonder if it could be associated another condition like Dystonia.

hi. Let me know if you find something. I am stuck with your symptoms and many more since over 5 years now. They found nothing every single test they do is normal so I have been left to deal with it on my own. Their diagnosis: “It is your FND”. Lucky enough when my jaws stiffen they can open just enough to slide a flat spoon of food otherwise I will be on a shake diet. Wish you all the best and hope you will find out why is it happening to you and reduce the symptoms. Good luck!

Jaamy, I will definitely provide an update after my visit today. Thank YOU for confirming this is another potential kink/link with FND. It has become a weekly item and has me giving up sometimes on eating at all - especially with already doing smoothies daily to create a healthy mixture that someone give a natural boost of energy.

(Shaking my head) the visit with the ENT was a total waste of time and money. I’m not even confident in his general skills because he didn’t even know Meloxicam as the generic name for Mobic.

Even during the mini exam, the teeth chattering began. He insisted everything normal. His out of the box suggestion was Botox. This puts me back to the drawing board in hopes of finding someone that is a bit more engaged instead of waiting for me to depart.

I will post an update if I’m fortunate enough to connect with someone that is more engaged.

I am really sorry. I know your pain and to be honest For now I gave up after being pushed back and forward from place to place like unwanted egg. Not knowing drives us crazy. There is not many specialists who would take us seriously. So far I didn’t come across any. Well keep trying! It is not in your head and you are not crazy! Don’t let them convince you otherwise. Try the research if there is anyone specializing in FND in your area. What can I say good luck!
