I would try to get some objective advice from your GP .. or go to the GP with your wife, so she can hear first hand what your limitations are in the light of your symptoms and the need for health and safety. You maybe need to build up to going on holiday, by starting with shorter trips...so she can see for herself your coping skills.. and the level of help she will need to be ready to provide . and whether this would be too much...her health is also a matter for consideration. Rather than pushing yourself, tread gently as you try to go forward together. This awful condition is not your fault so don't feel guilty. Best wishes.
Hello there! I'm so sorry to hear about your current situation. Please do not start pushing yourself. That won't end well for you or your wife. You didn't say, but I wondered what disability aids you use. I know that with fnd physios can be very anti wheelchairs but don't often have a prolonged, helpful program of exercises to help you get your balance etc back. A wheelchair might be a saviour for your holiday, taking away some of the stress between you and your wife and giving you the opportunity to get out and about and do some of the things you enjoy. Dynamic disability can be difficult to deal with but if you have the aids you can choose which is appropriate at each point. I also agree wholeheartedly with Shimmyaways comments. Wishing you all the best and I really hope that you and your wife get to enjoy your holiday.
