I’ve had a similar experience with the hormones and my symptoms getting worse with my period each month. I’m 45 and my doctor now has given me the Mirena coil and has also put me on oestrogen to try to help too. Early days but I do feel some benefits (am also on Pregabalin and not certain which is helping more). I hope you find some help / ease soon.

Have you been assessed for migraine? The experiences and symptoms you're having are very common amongst people with migraine (especially when hormones fluctuate) although some find that they get better when they have gone through menopause. The same applies to people with vestibular conditions too.

Hi there,My wife is 45 and starting with the Perimenopause and has had FND and Fibromyalgia since 2011.

Her symptoms are worsened with it and then can be ok, but the emotions that fluctuate with the Perimenopause are tough for her.

She can't take medication because she's become very sensitive to them since her FND diagnosis back in 2011.

Wishing you all the very best in your search to find some relief but always try to talk with someone, family, good friends etc because it's so important to talk about emotions.

Warmest wishes!

Tony and Kim 🙏🙏

We totally understand how you feel, as there's so many emotions that people go through with FND and Perimenopause. My wife lost her Hospital job due to FND, so she and many others on this site will totally understand what you are going through and it's difficult to make plans sometimes.

My advice is to take one day at a time, get as much help as you can and be easy on yourself and be aware of your limitations.

Not easy to do, especially when you've been active in life.

Wishing you a lovely day.

🙏🙏

Hi. Sorry to hear what you are going through. I know it is different but for years I have suffered terrible PMS. Which result in crying episodes, anger episodes, throwing things, tantrums, falling out with my partner vise versa. Tremors and falls. I wasn't diagnosed with fnd until August 2023. Though had drop attacks 20 years. Diagnosed fibromyalgia 2005. Had fibroid embolisation 2 years back. I was put on evorel 100 patches and progesterone pessaries 3 years ago. Hrt has really helped so much with the PMS symptoms. I would say I am 95% better though I still get the blues, pain and a fuzzy head, and feel drained and tired. But at least my relationship with partner is much better at these times of cycles. I go on iron tablets on and off. Heavy bleeding. I am so thankful for HRT. My cycles and pms were affecting my relationship and personal life terrible. Good luck hope things get sorted for you soon. I still obviously have my fnd and fibromyalgia to contend with but at least this has helped tremendously.
