Is my swollen upper abdomen related to FND?

It’s been 3 years since my functional stroke. Been suffering ever since. I have gotten stronger, but I still have daily and unpredictable symptoms and always have to limit myself. For the past month my upper abdomen has been swollen, bloated. I feel pressure that comes and goes but the last couple days it has been persistent. Is this another FND symptom?

I’ve always been big, but there’s something different going on. Going to see GI soon. Good luck to you with your tests.

Hi, I’m suffering exactly the same. Doctor yesterday said she believes it is a partially blocked intestine and has/air is getting trapped above it. Put me on three different types of laxative to soften everything inside and get it moving. Only started today so will update.

Hope it works for you. The tough thing about FND is you don’t know if there is a physical issue or brain issue when it comes to new symptoms

Absolutely , it’s one of the top symptoms . Nausea , bloating, pain, feeling full after only a few mouthfuls , reflux , and so on . If you google it , you’ll find many good articles or videos

It could just be gas, or potentially if you get heartburn some reflux, I personally suffer with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease which causes my valve not to close thus reflux goes back to my esophagus causing burning and which can cause epigastric pain at the bottom of your ribcage basically/ top of your tummy and bloating. See if you changed/introduced anything in your diet recently and eliminate it and see if it resolves the symptoms as another idea. I personally can't examine you to tell but I'm not a doctor, just a biomedical scientist here who was mistreated a lot following a FND diagnosis whereby i was refused treatment or investigations for anything followed. Note i got the GERD diagnosis following bouts of severe anemia and due to the classical symptoms prior to an FND diagnosis. It truly ruined my care I'll be honest and working on the other side, although on the lab, it's difficult to see at patients with vs without an FND label with similar presentations and being severely mistreated or treated extremely differently, often, quite badly and dismissed....and it goes on. I decided to use part of my savings and researched and sequenced my entire genome as I was that desperate and found my answer thankfully. I have a type of muscular dystrophy that slowly gets worse and it's not the fact that they didn't caught it; it's the fact that they chose to ignore my pleas (that I had to get to along with research I done myself) to do further tests, but to me they said "you have an FND diagnosis, nothing else can be done/ worth searching for". That tore me apart and following the bouts of illnesses I suffered and how I was mistreated by most doctors, gladly 1 spotted when I had developed viral meningitis and gave me empirical treatment and made the decision for me to get a lumbar puncture (which i had one years before) given my high temperature and headache, neck stiffness and confusion that ended me in the middle of the road, that I could of gotten killed by oncoming traffic if someone did not help me, they initially of course thought covid and remembering as I started feeling better I was moved wards and started throwing up a night or 2 after bile, and those doctors on that day just came in and simply asked about my mental health and I was a bit stunned as my labs (blood count) was nowhere normal and clinically I had the signs and symptoms and was being treated with an antiviral which was working!,(so I thank for that doctor who thought twice or perhaps did not see all my records, I'm so thankful for him starting the treatment before the others stopped it) and basically they refused to do the lumbar puncture given my previous experience I was basically in hospital because of "FND". This, is not fair, and this is what will kill you, negligence.
