Hey guys

Does anyone know if there is a link between FND and ASD??

This is something I've been discussing with a friend who has also been diagnosed with FND. We both saw the same neuropsychiatrist, who called it conversion disorder. He threw everything in his box of tricks at us - drugs, CBT, even abreaction - but nothing worked. Neither of us really fit the profile for conversion disorder, but we both share many traits with ASD. My "dissociative seizures" are much more like autistic burnout. She is looking into getting tested. I read a handout from GOSH that said ASD is a predisposing factor for FND, but I can't find any link anywhere else. I'm seeing a neurologist in a few weeks so I'm going to ask him.

Hi there. Just an update. I saw the neurologist (Prof Edwards at St George's) and he confirmed that many people with FND also have ASD. Can't find anything in the literature about the link though, which is odd.
