Hi,

I’ve been suffering for about 4 years now. Does anyone know or has been to the BC neuropsychiatry inpatient unit in Vancouver?

Yes, I've been there and I know other people who have too. If you have FND, they call it conversion disorder and believe it's completely psychiatric. If you also think your problem is entirely psychological, then you will probably get on with them. Their treatment is drugs (anti-depressants and tranquilizers) and CBT.

Hi, my 10 year old has FND. We live in Langley and even though we have never been to BC neuropsychiatric, my experience with the public health is that they will call conversion disorder and treat with psycotherapy. However, I recently found a clinic, it is private and not cheap, but my daughter made a lot of progress and they are very knowledgeable about FND. The place is called equinox, it is in west van. Dr. Ash is her doctor. maybe it is worth to check!

Hi Jessica. I just read your other posts. Is there any way you could go to Western in Toronto? There's a neurologist there, Sarah Lidstone, who is having some good results with FND patients. She trained with Jon Stone and is one of the leaders of the FND Society. They have a different approach from UBC and are more focused on physical rehab and brain retraining.
