I was wondering if anyone else thought FND Could be lime disease. I have a generic test at the doctorThat was negativeBut I heardYou need better testing. Many people have stated how of the generic test at the doctorShows a lot of false negative. I have tried a man things under the sun to no avail. It doesn't really matter what country you're in If you have FND there is no treatment. I just wonder if there is a link to lime disease???

Hi I have often wondered if Lyme Disease was a contributing factor to FND. I too had a test for it, and was told it was negative - but again, you are right these tests are not accurate. Although not medically trained in anyway, I do try and keep up to date with relevant Neuro Articles that might help with FND.

It is my understanding that if you do get a tick bite, there is a 50% chance it will carry the bacteria causing Lymes Disease, more so in certain countries. If you take antibiotics for 2 weeks at that time of the bite, you do not get Lymes Disease. Now if you do not, many years later you can get Neurological problems, again they only know how to treat this if tests are positive and the treatment is like permanent antibiotics to contain but not cure symptoms.

So really, which ever way you go with the posssible cause, the answer to Lymes Disease or FND is daily management of your particular symptoms and no medical treatment that can actually cure it!

Be kind to yourself, search for the calm in the storm!

Hi, no link between lympe disease and FND, you need a blood test for Lympe disease.

Hi,

Yes, I was diagnosed with FND 11 years ago and have a remit/flare pattern with symptoms. In fact I’ve had a few years with absolutely zero symptoms. Whenever I would get my FND I always felt physically sick beforehand and could tell it was going to come on (in 2018 I ran low-grade fevers for a few months beforehand. This time I had been seeing a functional medicine doctor for a few years.

She ran several infections panels on me for Epstein Barre, Herpes-6, Lyme, etc. Lyme can back as chronic neurological infection (IGM positive antibodies) on IGENIX labs & a different lab at the same.

I also came back positive for CIRS on my blood panels (you can look up inhalation Alzheimer’s from Dr. Dale Bresdehan (sp?) for mycotoxin exposure. Sure enough we tested the house we had bought 4 years earlier & their was high levels of mold in the A/C ducts from that wasn’t sealed properly, my master bathroom shower had 1/2 shower pan, so it leaked all the way across the bathroom under tile destroying everything (but it was behind so couldn’t see from outside) and our children’s toilet wax ring was a slow leak that molded their vanity, adjoining bathroom/closet wall, under their carpeting. Insurance pd the claims, it took us 4 months to remediate. I’ve been working on detoxing from it with liposomal glutathione, binders, and several other treatments. For Lyme you need to strengthen the immune system (berberine, reseveratol, etc), heal the gut, and detox spichochetes bioproducts. I’m feeling way better than I did (and my muscle symptoms disappeared, really FND remission again besides fatigue still)

I’d say their is something behind FND, we just may not have all the answers yet because we know so little about the brain. They are now finding links behind Alzheimer’s with infectious agents, mold, etc. Parkinson’s linked with pesticide exposure & glutathione deficiency (showing in the microbiome years earlier) Even Covid-19 is showing psychiatric challenges post-infection and they are finding links with most psychological illnesses with pathogenic infectious agents in the brain or neuroinflammation as a result. For example mothers with influenza during pregnancy are 4 times more likely to give birth to a child that will develop bi-polar. Don’t give up! I’d say work on any angle that would balance gut flora, detox your body, replenish any deficiencies, and tame neuro-inflammation with support.

Hi,

I am always interested to read your posts. I am still struggling with spasms in my stomach. The neurologist gave me pregabalin then baclofen then clonazepam and then diazepam all of which had little effect (this was spread over a year). I think it made it worse really. Baclofen has blown my body up but the neurologist says that will go down eventually!!). I am sensitive to medication and it gives me symptoms of diabetes and nasty spots on my head (bromhidrosis). Some time ago I had to have penicillin and it wiped out all the good bacteria in my stomach and ever since then I have taken Lepicol which replaces the good bacteria. (Holland & Barrett have the same thing but it is called Regucol).

Have you any ideas on how to stop the spasms naturally without taking medication?

Best wishes to you.

Emily

Hi Emily,

Somehow I didn’t see your post until now. What was going on at the time the stomach spasms started? Was it after the penicillin? What infection was the penicillin for (GI related)? As much history as you can give would help to think of anything that might help naturally. Also I highly recommend working with an functional medicine doctor to do some in depth lab testing like your microbiome, stealth infections, vit/mineral status, heavy metals, etc.

It may help pinpoint the “root” of it better. Hope this helps,

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I think it was the mixture of drugs that the doctor gave me (ie Bisoprolol, propranolol, isorsorbide mononitrate and finally amlodipine) that has caused this problem. I have looked into it and as far as I can see amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) can be responsible movement problems starting (ie spasms). After the episode with the penicillin in early 2014 which wiped out all my bacteria and caused an infection (also heart problems)I have made sure that I take plenty of probiotics and prebiotics. Also I am aware that medication can rob your body of vitamins and minerals. There are very few functional doctors in the north of England but I have found one that I think I might try.

Medication causes neurotransmitters gaba and dopamine to be depleted. Doctors have been giving me pregabalin, baclofen, diazepam, clonazepam to try and get the balance right but so far still got spasms.

Many thanks for your interest.

Best wishes

Emily
