Functional Urological Disease

Hi

Suffered with FND for nearly 3 years now with symptoms getting worse week by week from memory problems to numbness, tremors to paralysis of limbs.

Been having problems with right side kidney pain, urine problems unable to empty bladder at first led to water infections which led to self catheterisation. Now had supra pubic catheter inserted June last year in the hope it would settle down water infections, unfortunately not been the case. Been on different antibiotics which work for a few days the the bloody urge to pea come surging back a water test and presto water infection is back with a vengeance and urge to peas causes action he comes hot water bottle on my lap in the hope it will stop the urge to

Pea.

New tablet to try and calm down my bladder as the one I’m on not solving the problem. The whole affair leads to me feeling knackered all the time and can sleep over 17 hours a day, just need to lay down and presto off to sleep. So just keep swapping antibiotics tried cranberry justice and other over the counter tablets.

Now been advised by urology that I have Functional Urological Disease to go along with Functional Neurological Disorder just wondered if anyone else has the same symptoms as myself and if so did they find something that actually works as dealing with non stop water infections and affects of them are really getting to my mental health. Hope someone out there can help me out of this nightmare.

Regards

Mark H.......

I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I’ve not got experience of this but I do think (though may be totally wrong) that cranberry juice is no longer advised where waterworks issues are concerned. But I can’t remember where I heard this so maybe don’t take my word for it. Good luck!

Hi

Tried cranberry Juice and also D Manose tablets to try and get rid of these water infections. Seem to be stuck taking antibiotics to get rid of the infections but some only work for period taking them and a new days after course finishes. This period becoming shorter as my body gets used to the antibiotics from nitrofurantoin, fosfomycin, trimethoprim, pivmecillinam and others.

Laboratory tells doctor which antibiotics works best on sample submitted.

Finished last what doctor calls bit hitter antibiotics as only prescribed when all others fail calmed down sensation but had some side effects but 6 days after finishing 10 day course sensation needing to go to loo coming back again was told suprapubic catheter would help as not have to insert catheter 4 to 6 times a day but sadly not helped me, had suprapubic catheter changed for second time and it was absolute agony.

Hi

Exactly the same as you water infection after water infection advised a supra pubic catheter will sort

It. That was July last year water infections continue jump from 1 antibiotic to another told if on one of them too long can cause lung damage.

Now still same urge to pee now on oxbutynin 2 x 2.mg tablets twice a day.

My doctor is writing to urology for me and told urology that I need Botox injected into my bladder so the spasms can stop. I’m hoping this really works otherwise I’m left like this feeling I need a pea all the time, take enough tablets.

Cannot say if Botox will work yet fingers crossed but I’m at last chance salon as Botox is all that’s left

Mark H...

May be worth saying to your GP can you put me forward for bladder botox.
