Recent FND Diagnosis Following Many Symptoms That Started After Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Hello. New here.

I left a post on this issue over on the Tinnitus forum as well, as my symptoms started out with tinnitus.

In October of last year, I had my wisdom teeth extracted (at age 45). I was given gas, also prescribed a five day steroid pill pack following the procedure. The lower left tooth took quite a while to get out.

About four days after the extraction, my left ear starting ringing - a loud fluctuation whistling tone. A week later, my left ear became hyper sensitive to certain shrill high pitched sounds. Another week or so later I became light headed, and my eyes seemed to be harder to focus. And after all of this, another week or so later, I began experiencing ticks and tremors all over my body randomly. I've got a tremor in both hands. Pin prick sensations all over my body. Fast forward to today (April 25, 2020), no relief on any of these symptoms.

I’ve seen dentists, eye doctors, ENTs, neurologists. Has blood work done, MRI done one spine and brain, vestibular/dizziness testing. All normal. Last neuro, from a well known clinic, called my situation “Functional Neurological Disorder.”

I believe something happened with the teeth extraction to kick this all off, but nobody has outright said that. The tinnitus was the first symptom and the hyperacusis next, then downhill from there.

Googling all my symptoms, I find: TMJ, Acoustic Neuroma, Superior Canal Dis., Cerebral Fluid Build Up on Brain, Multiple Sclerosis (MRI was all clear)...Has anyone dealt with anything like this, following a tooth extraction? And do you think a diagnosis of FND is warranted? I was perfectly health before the teeth were removed. I suppose there is a degree of stress and worry perhaps causing some of my symptoms, but something very physical at least kicked all of this off. The doctors almost seem to be like "oh, you're fine, this will pass."

Hiya, Before my symptoms began, I had a large back tooth pulled which was very hard to get out. A few days later I was in agony and had developed a dry socket. This meant a clot didn't form in the hole and the bone was exposed. It then got infected and had to be re-packed for weeks. It was awful!

A few weeks later my FND symptoms began and I TRULY believe this was what started them. I did also have a background of chronic stress & back pain.

I am under Professor Edwards and he says FND often begins with pain/physical trauma.

I recommend Twitter for up to date research into this condition. Good luck to you, just wanted to share that I also believe dental work precipitated this for me too.

I would definitely get a blood test to see if you have any Mercury in your blood system or any other toxins. Also get your fecal tested too. The Mercury will show up in your fecal. Your Mercury should be Zero not 8, 9, 10, 20. Most Doctors will tell you that you can have up to 50 of Mercury in your system. No you should not have any, it’s a poison!

Good luck on your Ears! I went to at least 7 ENT’s Doctor for my ringing and dysfunction of my tubes in my ears. I finally got a balloon stent in my right canal. Unfortunately it collapsed in December. It was good for 2 years.
