Has anyone's symptoms suddenly resolved?

Hi everyone. Im new (within a month) to FND. In early October I experienced a horrible migraine followed by left side mouth drooping. Two days later I was unable to lift or bend my left leg or foot. Two days after that my right hand became incredibly weak and I was unable to lift that arm very much. After MRIs and cts showed very little, and the weakness had outlasted their other suspicion, hemiplegic migraine, I was told it was FND and that with a lot of PT I could retrain my brain. This was two weeks ago.

When I woke up this morning, all of my symptoms had resolved. My leg is only slightly less robust than the other, from a month of non-use/using the other for everything, but my grip is strong, I can walk, I can fully bend my knee and extend my foot.

Has anyone else with FND woken up to complete symptom resolution before?

Hi, check out hemiplegic migraines. They mimic signs of stroke....

Thanks for replying. My doctor decided FND rather than Hemiplegic Migraine because the weakness lasted for a month but maybe spontaneously disappearing will push them back to that.

Yes there are many cases of this. Most FND will resolve the quicker symptoms come on if they’re ignored.

Well I woke up this morning and my mouth is drooping down again and my speech is slurred. Hopefully that's all that comes back

Hi, in the beginning but eventually symptoms stay the same for a while and get worse. I have been dealing with for 5 years. started with episodes every month - then three weeks. then 2 weeks then weekly the twice a week and then was left with what I was. Just this past weekend episoses started again - but extremely severe. Cant go to the hospital wiht FND as no care will be provided so you just have to ride it out. I hope your symptoms stay away!

Unfortunately, all of my left side weakness returned, along with another killer migraine. Back to physical therapy for me

Yes, I did.

More than once.

First time was really bad, ambulance, Hospital, etc (Paramedics thought I was having a stroke).

Left hospital with crutches and totally weak legs.

After not more than 10 days, I just started walking out of the blue, not really trying, just did it.

Nowadays, when it happens, it can take a couple of hours or just a few minutes.

I’m working hard (3 times a week) having Pilates Sessions at home, on line with a phisiotherapist to rebuild my legs muscles and I do feel stronger.

If it happens again? I’ll keep trying to remember it’s going to be temporary and it will go away again.

One day at a time.

Hi yes I have! My symptoms are a bit different, I experience severe shaking starting in my legs and then migrating to my whole body. I had a two week stint of not walking, went to bed and woke up fine. Had no symptoms for weeks and then all of the sudden while standing in my bedroom it just stared again I have been in bed for the last three days. It is so weird that when I am laying down it stops.

I've read all your posts and I hope by now you have seen a headache specialist and been diagnosed with HM. HM puts you at higher risk of a stroke as well as cardiovascular disease, so it needs diagnosing. HM's can last for many weeks, even without the headache.

Calcium channel blockers are often given to prevent both the headache and hemiplegia.
