What treatments work best?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post to the group. Since August of last year I have been experiencing an array of symptoms including vision problems, ringing in ears, clogged sensation in both ears, feeling weak and fatigued every day, tingling in hands and feet, headaches, neck pain, stomach pain, problems with digestion, and difficulty breathing. Most of these symptoms come and go except my vision is no longer normal, my ears constantly bother me and I feel fatigued every day. I have had many tests done and everything has come out normal so far. My primary doctor suggested I might have fibromyalgia but other doctors I have spoken to disagree. Could this be fnd? Can anyone else relate to these symptoms? Recommend any treatments?

Thank you

I have been diagnosed with CFS/ME, fibromyalgia and more recently FND. What you're describing sounds more like CFS/ME to me. There is a great website which lists the different symptoms of both fibromyalgia and CFS/ME: the Bateman Horne Centre. That might be a good place to start. I have a lot of the symptoms you are describing, but unfortunately, there are so many things that could be causing them. I assume you've been tested for many of the autoimmune diseases, especially Myasthinia Gravis, which I believe really affects the vision.

Things which have helped are accupuncture, chiropractic and osteopathy. They don't get rid of the problem, but have really helped some of the strange symptoms. Good luck!

Yes, it is possible FND. I have all that and more. Even got to the point of not walking, barely crawling.

I went to Frazier Rehab, luckily got back walking and some arm strength. Hoping to work up to everything else eventually.

Unfortunately, does sap your energy and for me I found eyes needed some prisms for pain more than fixing double/blurred vision.

Also, try paying attention to environments. I'm worse in busy, loud, lighted places. Those with too much visual stimuli I either avoid or limit.

For me high triggers: Traditional Physical Therapy centers

Libraries

Bookstores

Big Events

Medium triggers, limited exposure (15 min to 30 min)

Grocery stores

Other stores/shopping

Parties/ Family Events

Advice: pay attention to how much noise, light, visual stimuli, stress, weather changes affect you.

Sorry to say - maybe. These are common symptoms of many things - if you are lucky it is something really basic like a minor (ie non-life threatening non-anaphylactic type) allergy, or one of the many autoimmune system diseases (many are fully controllable).

Bonus for fibro vs FND is that fibromyalgia does have some meds that relive symptoms. the biggest problem is that you have very generalised symptoms (like going in with flu-like symptoms GPs will diagnose flu and not look for rarer diseases like meningitis), you will need to save as much energy as you can and invest it in bugging the medical profession into diagnosing you.
