Your brain is taking in so many things that to focus on reading etc can be quite difficult. Like your first response I had trouble reading writing sentences that made sense and speaking clearly. My physio helped explain this in that I needed to narrow my focus. My vision was also affected so I have x’s on my fridge which I follow with my eyes only, to regain focus. This has helped immensely. I went from reading a book a week to half a page over a week as too much and too exhausting. Hang in there and don’t give up on trying to read etc. it’s retraining the brain all over again...

Thanks that’s helpful.

YEEEEESSSSS.... I used to be able to read a whole book in one day, but now am only able to read magazines and very short stories. Its something to do with the memory or being able to keep the information or story going in your head, I have found that also cannot watch a series on TV, and with a film, my husband has to keep me updated on what is happening.

BUT, WHAT I WOULD SAY IS ALTHOUGH ITS VERY FRIGHTENING AS WE KNOW WHAT WE USED TO BE CAPABLE OF, NOW ITS DIFFERENT. If you go with it and don't worry about it then you may be able to get better. The brain is a wonderful thing, and it is all down to that , that you are experiencing these things.

Sorry to sound, so matter of fact, but have been living with NFD for 6 years and it can't throw anything at me that I don't know how to handle. It is very hard at times, and there have been many times where I have completely broken down in the street, at the docs, with family, etc, but if you go with what ever it throws at you then you have half a chance of getting better,

Hope this helps you, and I do really feel for you and send you a really big hugXX Be strong.

Thank you that’s really supportive.

It’s early days. I’m a single mum and bit scared of the future now.

Have you managed to adapt/ improve?

What are your main symptoms?

Also I worry things will get worse over time but is it more likely to remain the same just different symptoms? It’s so so strange!

I know this feeling well. Audio books have been my saviour. FND has a lot to answer to. About 6 months ago my son was being tested for dyslexia and was trying all the different glasses to see which may help for him to which got me thinking I wonder if this could help I now use yellow tinted anti glare glasses that help a lot now to work on the memory to remember what I read

I have my Alexa Echo Dot read me Kindle books or play audiobooks from audible.com. My web browser, Safari, has a text-to-speech feature, under the Edit menu, that can read highlighted paragraphs to me.

Hi. Can I ask if anyones symptoms got better? My daughter got FND from her HPV vax and Instantly lost the ability to read anymore when previously she was expected 8&9s in her exams. Now she seems severely dyslexic.

The words or letters don't appear in chronological order , can't remember how to spell things or pronounce words , poor memory , can't take in information or instructions now, can't think of words she needs to say , sees white patterns on the page with the white background :( ,

Along with many other symptoms from the vax.

I'm hoping there's some stories of cognitive improvement?

Fnd is complex, I read slowly, as words seem to move, or don't make sense. Yet I still can write letters, to me, it's like those with stutter can sing beautifully. I do forget words which is frustrating, so sometimes have to google or go through alphabet. It just takes me longer. Don't get sad, if one door closes, knock on another door. Take care. Moni
