Likely somatisation vs FND

Just wondered if anybody else had somatisation mentioned to them by Nuero then pointed to FND website.

I think you will find somatisation is a psychiatric term for FND. It has the same idea behind it as conversion disorder, that the body converts psychological problems into physical symptoms. The problem with this theory is there is no real evidence for it. A lot of people who have FND have no psychological problems; and a lot of people with psychological problems don't have symptoms of FND. Quite often, people with FND who have psychological problems have them as the result of FND, often compounded by the bad treatment they are given by the medical profession.

Thanks for helping with the description as I did not know where to begin, before Nuero can diagnose fully he does has to complete a certain criteria, which he can't hence he always puts 'likely' all the time. It's interesting you mention it's the psychiatric term for FND.

Just found today FND is not mentioned on NHS website under A to Z but Somatisation is, although it's not a good description of it. I wonder if this is why he is using this term instead.

My neuro dropped it on the ohone that I had fnd too so that's why I now am on all pages relate too it I see her Monday
