I have problems with bright lights in certain stores, usually get headache and wobbly legs. I'm not affected by flashing lights, not sure if illuminations would affect me? Sirens, house alarms (even child screaming at a certain pitch) and similar have a particularly bad effect on me causing jerks and if I am exposed for a long period this can lead to non epileptic fit. i do find myself very restricted when out, and I resort to fingers in ears. I did have some little ear plugs bought specifically to help with a snoring partner, but have lost one, they did help when out in noisy environments but it was like hearing through water and i often gave up trying to hear conversations. I do intend to buy some more as they were effective. When I worked I had industrial headphones to wear during fire alarm testing every week, but even prolonged exposure when wearing those caused a fit. If I'm at home and hear fire alarm I put my head phones on and play really loud music on my little machine-sorry can't remember what it is at the moment lol-another issue with FND. I do carry them with me when out so you can imagine the size of my handbag lol. So basically, yes, you're not alone x
Yes my daughter has problems with flashing lights, mostly Police Cars and Ambulance red and blue flashing. She also can have trouble with trucks with yellow lights flashing that are working on roads etc. She is ok if there is just one lot but more than that and she gets tremors and jerks for several hours, she takes a Panadeine forte as it gives her a strong headache. The condition is called Photosensitive Epilepsy, there are a couple of groups on Facebook you may like to join, you can get some special glasses with a blue tint that may help you will find some info re these on these sites, depends where you live.
Some people have a lot of success with these others don't.
Yes, I have problems with lights. I was told by one of kid's neurologists that these things can trigger seizures so I've always been attuned to them. Several years later, they began to trigger movements for me. Sometimes I am ok, but generally not. I usually have to look away and even that isn't a guarantee. Sometimes I have to stare it down.
Good Morning Kim, Yes iights and loud noises have affected me since the beginning of all of this. I wear sunglasses alot which helps. Flourescent lights are the worse. Sharps and loud sounds set of issues. Over time we learn to adjust to much of them by different ways of coping. I have 23 grandchildren, they are sooooo precious, when they all get together you can imagine the volume, but they have come to learn not too loud and to much with grama. Also, things that enter my vision to quickly can cause a storm, my eyes cannot track and easily set off reactions. God Bless, Cathy
Yes, I seizure with high pitched sounds and light bothers me. I wear sunglasses for the light and I use earplugs and the headphones used during a shooting range because the earplugs was not enough
