hip spasms
Hi,
I get hip pain all the time but unfortunately it is still there despite all the medication they give me. It causes me pain all the time, in bed its worse (especially when the cat decides to sit on top of my hip) I cant walk properly and even have a bad limp when I have a better few hours, unfortunately its just another thing that I have put down to the FND and just have to get on with it as best I can.
Sometimes it just helps to know someone else knows how it feels and that you aren't just the only one. If they cant cure the pain what about focusing on how to feel a bit better rather than being down about it? I know its easier said than done to be positive but I write a list of what to do that's positive and when I get down I look on my list and have a go at one of the things, even if its putting my favorite DVD on to try and distract me! I hope this helps, my thoughts are with you
Hi, I am new to this as I was diagnosed with MS for many years and had the support of a nurse, physio etc.but a few years ago I was re diagnosed with FND. It was literally like someone pulling the rug out from under my feet.
All the help except the physio (had to self refer) has died away. I bought a FND self help book but what a waste of £21 as it was about people who were depressed and how to change their thinking patterns (CBT) .
I considered myself to be a happy, well adjusted and sensible person but in discomfort and pain. Nothing has changed except the label but, oh my, how the attitude of the professionals has changed.
Pain was taken seriously before but as you say we are just expected to read web sites and support each other.whilst still taking the pills that don't always work.
I wear ankle and leg braces to help with my walking but have been told to only wear them when I am out. They do allow me to walk without foot drop but now I am with toes drawn up to a hammer like position and my hips are being used to propel my legs forward. I think that this is where the pain comes from because as out bodies cease to work with one set of muscles other compensate but hurt because of the extra work. Could probably said this a lot quicker and fewer words but all part of the problem. Hey ho, lets see what the GP says.
Two years ago when I was discharged by the neuro because my symptoms are functional, he actually said to me that my hip pain couldn't be caused by my poor gaite because I didn't limp badly enough. Since then I have been diagnosed with a labral hip tear, the consultant spotted it on an old x-ray that my gp said was clear! Don't ignore pain.
