Tension headache with FND diagnosis and possible PLM /RLS

Further to my original post I have since had my brain MRI and follow up appointment for the results

At that appt I saw a completely different Neurologist , a locum , than the time beforeI was totally confused as I had to repeat all over again the reason for my referral!

After discussion he confirmed my MRI brain result was normal without showing me the images or report. Not disputing it was okay but felt as the patient I should have been .

Since I have contacted neurology Dept and asked for them report to be sent with my follow up letter sent to my GP and copy to myself. I was told this could be organised.

Today I received the letter without the report!

Back on the phone to neurology and spoke to a different person to before and she says I should have requested at the time of appt and this cannot be arranged! Asked if I could speak to someone more senior and she readily offered to send it in the post today, will wait and see if it dies in deed arrive.

The content of the letter diagnoses likely tension headache along with FND but need to exclude periodic limb movement /restless legs syndrome.

I am being referred for polysomnography and request for bloods FBC & Iron studies.

Also referral to a community psychologist for FND with perhaps some sessions of cognitive behavioural therapy.

They will see me back in 6 months time or sooner if needed.

My question is has anyone else been put forward for polysomnography and talking therapy and if so were they of any benefit in trying to deal with this awful disorder.

TIA

Hi - I have had CBT (not specifically for my FND but for anxiety) - it has some useful tools for helping deal with psychological impact of FND - but didn't address the FND directly for me - but still of some use. And of course because of the multiple causes of FND it may be of more use to you an your personal circumstances. Best of luck with all of this
