Hi lovely it’s a very confusing diagnosis isn’t it? First of all some pointers as to where you can find some more information; there’s a good website on functional symptoms neurosymptoms.org, There’s also some great Facebook support groups like FND hope that you can join, peer support is really helpful with this diagnosis.

In regards to triggers; the best way to pick them up is to keep a diary, there are free Apps you can download (I’m using Myseizurediary) that can help. It may not be obvious at first what your triggers are,but ‘stress’ in this case does not just mean when you are feeling stressed out, it could be any strong emotion, a cold or infection, change in temperature, flashing lights, when you are hungry...the list goes on. It’s kind of like the ‘stress’ filter switch in your brain is faulty and it overloads, causing a seizure. People around you may be able to help too; they may pick up things that you aren’t aware of as to when your seizures are more likely to happen..hope that helps a bit and gives you a starting point 😊😊❤️

Thank you for that my family do seem to know when sometimes I go glazed over and just stare and then just flop and I cannot open my eyes it takes me ages to tell myself to open my eyes it is all very worrying especially as my neurologist has said I could have it for the rest of my life
