Neo Bladder update.

Hi all

           Was quite chuffed with myself yesterday and today,first full days wearing no pad or bag,apart from one incident caused by a cough i remained dry.It seems the thing is slowly learning how to hold its water,it has also stretched as the surgeon told me it would,and it now holds a little under a litre (measured from my night bag) cant wait to test it out on a few cans of beer.

That's good news. Sounds like you are coping with a Neo Bladder. How long ago did you have your surgery, and how long was you in hospital. I am having a radical cystectomy and a neo bladder reconstruction on the 24th May, so it would be good to hear about your experience!

Hi Gareth my op was around November 2015, i have had a few setbacks due to bladder infection but once you get the knack of emptying properly these dont seem to be a problem. In my case they took the prostate too which causes a whole different problem,but apparently viagra can fix this.

I no longer trust to have a beer, i have tried to be as normal as possible but seem to have leakages in my bags frequently. Good on you x  All the best

I had a temporary bag after my neo bladder op and it leaked all the time,they put it over my old appendix scar and it leaked along the scar,was glad when those tubes came out.

As soon as my chemo is over with i am going to have many beers,i will have one for you.

Hi Hotoz57,

Good to hear you have survived a day without wetting yourself, I to thought that it would not happen, but am now free to do whatever I want during the day without wearing a pad. It's funning, at first you will feel scared to drink too much during the day, but I can go up to 5 hours without going. I however have started to wear a bag during the night to enable me to sleep. But you can set the clock throughout the night, but it doesn't always work and often the bed is wet in the morning. Good luck Rob

I have discontinued using a night bag and use a pad and washable bed pad, have had a few leakages but the pad normally holds it all. I go to bed very late so i usually manage to get through the night without having to get up at all.
