High Potassium Levels?

I am just curious if anyone has had elevated potassium levels during or after PC treatment? Specifically Radiation and ADT. Hubby has dangerously high potassium levels, he has kidney disease so this is something that is watched. We even log all of our food and the Nephrologist is baffled by it-he doesn’t eat anything to cause such a spike. The only thing that is different for him is having radiation treatments and being on Orgovyx. He will be done with his 6 months of Orgovyx tomorrow. We are being extremely careful with his potassium intake and I will be curious to see if stopping the drug will improve this. He goes back to Nephrologist in 6 months. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for posting. I do have some thoughts in regards to your issue...

Neither Orgovyx, nor radiation are noted for a hyperkalemia side effects. Have you had his Pharmacist look into drug to drug interactions ?? If not, you can use this site and plug his meds in to look for possible interactions.

The concern I would have with drug interactions is a slowing or speeding up of clearance of any drugs that effect renal function.

Has he had excessive bruising or deep tissue injuries recently?? This can cause hyperkalemia, since intracellular potassium is higher than extracellular potassium.

Likely, you have seen the Nephrologist and figured it out. If not, I would get with him for further testing...

Sorry about the delay in response, but I have been vacationing and took a forum break... Hope all is going well now...

Happy Holidays,
