My husband had his RALP on Nov. 9th. All went well with his surgery. The pathology ended up being consistent with his biopsy results - Gleason score of 7 (3+4) Grade Group 2. The Gleason 4 made up 5% of the tumor volume. Margins were negative, there was no EPE, seminal vesicles were negative. Lymph nodes were all negative. There was perineural invasion present. The neurovascular bundles were able to be spared on both sides of the prostate.
The catheter was pulled yesterday and so far things are going well. Overall, he's feeling pretty well and we are both relieved that it's out and we can both move forward. His first PSA will be at 6 weeks post-op. All considering, we've both been pleasantly surprised at how well he's doing post-op!
Thank you to all that had good thoughts, prayers, and excellent advice, this is an amazing community of amazing people!

Mike's #1 - Sounds like a fine initial result. PSA is usually done at 6 weeks post-surgery and then 6 weeks later - to give PSA circulating in the blood a chance to clear. Most likely he will get an 'undetectable' result at the 3-month lab and will stand a good chance of being 'cancer-free'. Get to work on the kegels and, with the sparing of the nerve bundles, he should eventually get back his continence and "other functions", as well.
Congrats on a well-done advocacy for the man in your life. We should all be so lucky as to have someone like you!
Thank you K9 and NPFish for your thoughts and advice. I will definitely stick around and keep you posted on everything - I am praying that this is it, he will be one of the lucky ones that never has to endure additional treatment. So far so good with the urinary continence. He's had a couple of leaks since the catheter was pulled on Wednesday, but he said it hasn't been much. The pre-op PT seems to have really made a difference!
I hope you are both doing well and I am keeping you in my thoughts as you continue with your own battles with PC!
