Hi, anyone on nortriptyline? I'm high... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Hi, anyone on nortriptyline? I'm highly suspicious, was on amytrip, made me drowsy, at mo on 10mgs a night, doc said to increase if needed
Yes
I went on this after Amytrip too. Best change I made. I take 3 at night.
None of them help me sleep much but the side effects of deadening nerve paths are a real benefit. Hope you get on with them xx
Thanks, Fiona, doc said to increase as needed, but I stuck on one, I will now do as I'm told! x
nortriptylline is meant to have fewer side-effects such as nausea and vomiting than amitriptylline - good luck i hope it works for you
Hello
They are both the same medication the only difference is that
Nortriptyline is a bit milder
Hence the end of the drug name is the same ptyline.
I've had three brill answers, just joined tonight, I'm so impressed, thankyou! X
I am on Nortriptylline, Started with Amytriptylline, but it made me dream I was on the toilet,(nearly a couple of nasty accidents, Lol!) then I was put on Efexor, Vomiting central! I much prefer Nortrip.
Cheers, Midori
I'm on a bigger dose, 50 mg nightly, suits me fine.
Cheers, Midori
Oh Midori
I do not want to scare you but whilst Venlafaxine is a very good med at the time when neexdx it us a bugger to come off them due to withdrawl symptoms. I am on them for depression & have tried under supervision to reduce them I end up on a higher dose each time. I ebded up having physciatric care & had to have doseage upgraded by a physciatrist. My highest dose was 375mg & have managed to get down to a comfortable 300mg.
My advice would be to avoid them if possible as they are so addictive.
I hope I have'nt frightened you. I just wanted to share my experience with Venlafaxine.
Hugs
Jac
It's Ok, Jac, I'm a former nurse, so I have a fair idea what I'm in for. If I'm puzzled by anything I ask my pharmacist about addictions and reactions. At My age, (64), I'm not too worried about addictions, I don't have too many years to go.
I'm not scared of dying, it's just part of the cycle of life.
Cheers, Midori
I am on nortriptyline, I have previously been on amitriptyline, and I was only on 10mg of ami and it totally knocked me out until lunchtime the next day and that was with taking it at 8pm.
As I said I am now on nortriptyline and am currently taking 10mg. I have found this drug brilliant and works a lot quicker than ami so I now take it at 10pm and it usually does the trick, not sure if I will need to up the doseage at any point but been on it for two months now and it seems to be working just fine.
i too am on nortriptyline but since putting it up to 40mg i seem to have lots of hot sweats more then normal has i am menopausal any way also i seem to have more anxiety too dont know if all this is conected. it helps with the pain at night but still get the pain on and off in leg after walking during day
