Hi Mimoin,

I dont no if this will help but i take a tablet from my doctor for cramps in my feet legs ect and it's brilliant, it must also help with the rest of my body too, it's called "Quinine sulphate tablets 300mg" i take 1 tablet at nite ....... Maybe you could ask your GP if it would help you and get his advice.

Hope this has been of help,

love and gentle hugs xxx

Have you tried a warm bath ? Sometimes that can help . Along with some pain killers ( whatever you've been prescribed , or even just some paracetamol ) .

A warm drink, a warm bath and a lie on the bed helps my cramps.

if they get worse or last more than a day or so , may be worth asking your GP for advice.

Gentle hugs

xx

Thank you all for the advice. I am hoping that the baths and paracetamol will help. If not I'll call my GP in the morning. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia only 3 years ago and glad to have find a site I can ask others like myself questions. Thank you!

magnesium is very good for muscle cramps. If you sweat a lot you loose sodium or if you pee a lot you loose potassium. An imbalance of these 2 minerals can cause musle cramps. Bannanas are high in potassium, salted peanuts are lush but prob not the healthyist way to get sodium. But I do love them lol xxx

Hi MimoinUK

i get cramp and pins and needles in my arms and hands when i sleep and cramp a lot in my legs. my sports therapists said its because our muscles seem to hold tension a lot longer and we get the tension as we are pain and so tense up. then because we are tense and the muscles stiff our nerves get trapped and this is what causes the pins and needles in legs and arms when you lie and sit in certain positions. we also get cramp a lot as our muscles are so tense we find it hard to drain the lactic acid from them and the blood flows through them slower or something to that affect and so we get cramp. i get it in my hips a lot.

i see the sports therapist for a weekly massage and it really helps, its a deep tissue massage and so breaks down the knots and the tension and so eases the pain and reduces the pins and needles. he also gave me a load stretches to do every night and this helps drain the muscles and keep the muscles supple so they don't get so stiff. all of this helps me be more flexible and helps keep the pain and stiffness somewhat reduced.

i also found that yoga really helps although i did it at much reduced level than everyone else in the class and sometimes would sit bits out so i didnt over do my muscles. just really pace yourself.

hope it helps, i know its hard to pay for some things especially if you cant work but having had this for 10 years this is the best ive managed it by using the massage, stretches and yoga. going to start aqua fit soon too x

I started taking a magnesium supplement for the cramp I suffered in my legs and feet, it has worked and I get the cramps back when I stop taking them. Always best to check with your GP though just to rule out any underlying problems. Hope you are cramp free soon.
