General illness??

Does anyone else find since having fibro, that having a generic illness is worse than it should be? Not counting fibro symptoms/flares but just generic symptoms of that illness?

I've got a cold that started last night and I genuinely feel like if I didn't have fibro, I wouldn't feel nearly as bad as I do! My husband gets on at me all time for moaning and groaning about feeling rubbish but I truly do feel shocking and it's just a cold.

I haven't had any fibro symptoms to add to it, so I'm just referring to having a common cold, but a few years ago it wouldn't have floored me like it is now! But any illness I've had in the last year since my fibro started, has felt so much worse.

I do also believe it's the classic teachers curse - first day of half term = poorly 😢 😂

sorry to hear your feeling rough. Tbh the whole population are reacting badly to common cold at the moment. I think it's due to lockdown and a lack of immunity generally. Having said that, I do think Fibro makes us feel worse too with the aches and pains associated with other conditions can be compounded by the aches and pains of Fibro.

plenty of fluids and parcetemol should help you through your cold. Get well soon.

I totally appreciate where your coming from on this and agree.

I oftenly feel like fibro is an early warning system for other bugs and illnesses. It's pretty common for me to have 1-2 day pain storm of fibro symptoms tand then start with cold symptoms or a norovirus bug etc.

It's like clockwork these days and i've come to recognise the flare up that preceeds the bug. It's so unfair having the double whammy sn't it!

I sympathise as my young grandboys being in primary school differently share their germs with us 🤣me personally I differently think when I get a viral bug I feel really rubbish as our bodies are juggling symptoms of fibro as well xx

Yes!! I believe it's because our bodies are more sensitive as well as having a lowered immune system.

I get ill with other things on a very regular basis and always have them for longer than the normal timeframe. The Drs have said that everything is exacerbated purely due to having Fibro.

For example, I have had Glandular Fever since 4th November 2021!!!!! 😭

I'm sorry that you have a cold and it's making you feel so rubbish. It is crazy that "just a cold" can do that to us but it's very real and you should be receiving sympathy, not grief. You moan and groan as much as you feel the need to. Did you do that before having Fibro cos if not, then he should notice the difference and realise how much worse a simple cold is for you nowadays.

I hope the curse gets lifted and you feel better very soon 🤗
