Escitalopram : Just been prescribed... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Escitalopram
Hi sorry I've never heard of these meds. I'm sure someone else here will know more about them.
What are they and what were they prescribed for?x
healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., hello there, I am guessing from the spelling of the word it’s in the same group as Citalopram, , I was actually on Citalopram for many years which worked more for my depression but then I changed as didn't help with my anxiety . I hope you get on okay with your new meds, if you would like to lock your posts there is a link above , that way only our community can see and not open to any other site engines on the internet. Take care , let us know how you get on and hope it starts to make a difference very soon xx
Yes I don’t think there kind of the same x
Fingers crossed once the tablet gets into your system you will notice a change, having anxiety/depression is horrid, having been there myself, understandable with what people tolerate with conditions on a daily basis. I eventually was put on duloxtene, that really for me personally has made a huge difference. Take care xx
Thanks I’ve not started them yet just a bit anxious to start never taking anything like this before so probably sit in my cupboard for a few weeks need to hear from people who are on the same one and see how there getting on with might ease my mind a little x
Thanks zoonie I will check them out x
Yes they are the best cleanest ADs around very good drug
Pain signals share the same neurotransmitter pathways as dopamine and seratonin, the 'happiness' hormones. Basically, two trains on the same track!
This is why absorbing, pleasurable activity can often make our pain feel less severe. Anti-depressants and SSRI painkillers work well together because of this, especially in 'nerve pain' conditions such as Fibromyalgia.
Pre-gablin pain relief works by slowing down the speed at which the pain signal reaches the area of the brain where that end of the nerve 'track' makes you feel it, in the hope that it fades away before getting that far. This is why pre-gablin also dampens down anxiety (and your ability to think clearly, unfortunately.)
Hope this helps clarify things a bit. (I remember getting very angry the first time I was prescribed anti-depressants for physical pain. Mind you, there was a lot more suspicion of depression in those days!)
Good luck with your treatment, dx
