Five years ago I developed multiple symptoms comprising pins and needles and a pain in my back and shoulder this later spread throughout my body. I had a Brian MRI which was clear and several months later I was then diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I have struggled with the symptoms and have now developed blurred vision in one eye. I had an opthalmology appointment on Thursday and was told that my eye problem was a main symptom of MS and was very unlikely to be fibromyalgia. I’m now waiting for another brain MRI. It’s looking that I may have been misdiagnosed. Has anybody else gone through this’?

Hello there, I hope your scan comes soon and helps you get more definite answers, I have read that people have been mis diagnosed, some conditions can be very similar, I was 1st diagnosed with fibro but 100per cent sure that me/cfs was causing me the most problems, that diagnosis came 2nd , let us know how you get on, weekends can be quiet on the forum but hopefully some members will pop on . healthunlocked.com/fibromya..., if you would like to lock your posts there is a link above as only our community can see.
Hi Clairedog, I have sent you a private message.
I was similarly misdiagnosed years ago and even been the center point of hot discussion by several MDs about what it is I had and still have with embellishments.
My conclusion after all these years with very positive tests for RA and regular arthritis associated with weakening bone system of osteopenia, SPMS, Sjogren's, adrenal insufficiency (AI) now considered by many to be yet another autoimmune disease, and, last but not least, the DVTs, is that all the SS of what we have are related.
There must be a basic error either in mitochondria and the ATPs they produce or the receptors they do or do not support or in our brains with the messaging systems like from the hypothalamus, medulla oblongata to the heart or in some intrinsic basic molecule that assists in the powering of all our systems.
One thing I know for sure is that if I eat any solenacious (night shade plant) product (i.e. any pepper of any kind, any tomato, any eggplant, etc or touch their leaves) the next day or so I have a huge flare. Nothing else affects me like solanaceous plants. Saying that excludes my being really stupid and working too hard and the consequences of that two days later!
What do any of you think about what causes all our autoimmune issues?
Yup alot of my symptoms match MS. And I recently learned that I have 2 mutations in my ACE gene. So my body over produces angiotensin converting enzyme. High ACE levels are common in MS
