Any potions or lotions??
Has anyone got any ideas of how to st... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Has anyone got any ideas of how to stop this terrible itchy skin ? It’s kept me awake all night and driving me mad
Antihistamine - taken orally do these help at all?
Or hydrocortisone cream 0.5% from chemist but only put it on the “bad” patches of skin or it can burn good skin
I use aloe vera gel - doesnt work 100% but gives me a good degree of relief.
Hi, I take oral antihistamines they're the only thing that work for me. Everyone is different, I was diagnosed with urticaria (hives) and I get my antihistamines on prescription and it's free in Scotland. Good luck xx
I use E45 cream on the offending area when it’s driving me mad! Doesn’t get rid of the itching completely, but it does soothe it!
I might give that a go thank you I really hate it when I have an itchy flare up. Hugs x
Hi
My Dr prescribed fexofenadine which had helped a lot. Take care of yourself Lynne
I get that too, it feels like you’re going to rip off your skin at times x
Yes it drives you mad I’ve tried cold showers and then moisturiser after I’ve even smothered myself in talc lol x
Do you take anything with morphine in like Tramadol x
I’m on slow release morphine and oramorph x
I would go back to your doctors, I bet that’s what is causing it, a very common side effect of morphine x
Sounds really strange but a friend is going through radiotherapy and the site is sore and itchy. To cut a long story short, she slathered the area in natural yoghurt. IT WORKED!!!!
If you don't fancy that, have you tried an oat bath? Either place porridge oats in an old stocking and tie to a tap while running a bath or put in the bath tub.
I use coconut oil let it melt in your hands. And I add lotion to it and some water at the sink sounds like a whole thing but it works better than anything else I used to do this when I was a swimmer. Also try taking some fish oils orally and vit E and drink lots if you’re inflamed in your body could be why flaring or your medications ? When they put me in HRT oral I got itchy rashes and hives started being allergic to things. Food wise Give up any wheat oatmeal is fine for breakfast and hardly any sugar you’ll notice a diff within two weeks. Eat clean. I have psoriasis i moisten my skin every day. I have acid refkux so I can’t take my oils orally it makes a big difference.
I have hrt patches and on lots of meds also but since getting fibromyalgia i get flare ups of really itchy skin all over including my head so annoying x
Hi, I’m sorry to hear about you suffering with the dreaded itch-I am a lifelong eczema sufferer so was quite familiar with it even before the fibromyalgia goblins gifted it to me- I find that an anti histamine can help sometimes but the main thing is to stay reasonably cool, cotton sheets and clothes and keep the skin and yourself well hydrated. Essential oils in a cream carrier are useful and most of all DONT STRESS! Hope some of this might work for you. 😉🤞
Omg do you itch also i do and like you its driving me round bend if you find a lotion or cream please let me know and like wise with me thanks and itchi hugs x
I also have this terrible itching but there is nothing to see on my skin. Very difficult to cope with.
It drive you mad 😠 like little ants crawling over your skin and I try so hard not to itch but that’s no help!!! The other night I only got two hours sleep as the itch was really bad x
My gp gave me tablets for this, started working al.ost immediately, sorry cannot remember what tabs.
I might go back to the docs and ask them about what can be done x
Hi, itching drives me mad too. I take antihistamines every day, but this year it has become much more severe. I saw a dermatologist a couple of weeks ago as I also have a small rash that will not heal. Their recommendation was to:
Avoid perfumed moisturisers
Avoid soap, bubble baths and shower gel
Take an antihistamine
I've been prescribed a steroid ointment, a menthol moisturiser and a urea based moisturiser.
I do all of these things anyway, but the urea based moisturiser really helps, and the menthol moisturiser is very good, well worth a try.
I understand, but maybe they can give you something else x
Find out what's causing it and stop taking or doing whatever it is!
It is not enough to just put a cream on or take antihistimne or use steroids if your just continueing whatever is causing the problem in the first place.
Don't expect your Dr to be of any assistance it tracking down the offenders,, they'll just hand out whatever chemical.
It's not easy but then again tearing your flesh of isn't exectly a bag of fun!
To give you an idea,, I no longer eat Dairy anything with Gluten,,, Soy,, Sweeteners,,, Coffee,, Tea,, Lemonade, Celery,, Never use deoderant and only use a little bar soap that rinces off easy under my arms and on my groin. It's 99.999% better but occasionaly will itch a little usualy when I have eaten someting spicy but I have not managed to nail this down.
If were to go mad with soap in the shower it will itch a little but a very small amout of coconut oil rubed on will sort that.
Horses for courses!
I have gone onto a gluten free diet and on sweeteners now instead of sugar and drink plenty of water too. It’s very difficult to find what’s causing it but it could be just the fibromyalgia also ?
Peppapot, Admittidly few want to go to the length I have to get on top of my symptoms. Congradulations on the Gluten you will not regret it,,, Dairy is one of the biggest alergens going and skin commonly reacts to it.
I however know that drugs are not a way forward,,, sadly most learn that to late,, but to each his own.
I would caution against the sweeteners as most are neurotoxic and with the fibro,, well!
Oh I thought going onto sweetners was a good thing as obviously sugar is bad for you. It’s amazing to think 🤔 what we presume to be good is bad very confusing. I know I’m on a lot of morphine but I don’t know what the alternative is as I’m in so much pain.
The safest of the sweeteners would be Stevia however even that has it's problems as it alters hormone profile, paticularly for males,, but at least it's natural,, when I say natural only the stevia leaf is natural,, the rest of it is so processed it is practicaly a chemical. Sweeteners are however nasty the worst of which in Aspartme which was orignaly developed as a neurotoxic pesticide,, it happened to be very sweet and the company eventualy with the assistance of one notorious politician got it passed as a sweetner after it having been rejected several times for health concerns.
Google Aspartme neurotoxic pesticide
Stevia has a strange taste, that is difficult to forgive,,,, to be honest once you just stop taking all processed forms of sugar you don't miss it.
I started drinking water with a whole lemon squeezed into it some months ago ,, before I knew it I was putting less and less water into the glass and squeezing more lemons.
I now don't bother with the water and just squeeze about 5 lemons,, it's auctualy quite sweet when you get used to drinking it refreshing and delisious!
well I will give anything a go at the moment before I make my skin sore.
Coconut oil has quite good anti iflamatory properties,, lavander is quite soothing for most,, the herb oil that I would suggest with it is a little bit of Comfery beautifully and strongly anti inflamatory. It would however have to be an infused oil.
Easy enough to do if you know were the is any comfery growing just pick some leaves,, let them dry,, crush them up into a jar and pour and oil on,, leave covered for a few weeks and shake regular and strain.
You can use a bit of the infused oil mixed with the coconut oil,,, and it dosen't smell bad as long as you dry the leaves.
Reasonable oil for extracting would be sweet almond as it keeps well and is reasonably light.
Amazing stuff,, just dry the leaves well without heat,, you can peg it up on the line as long as there is no rain. and don't leave long stalks attached as the are the bits that supply more moisture.
Can I ask what’s comfrey? What does it look like?
I use Dermol500 it works for me ❤️
Hi if you try cyclazine it helps
