The basic and quick answer to this is no , not necessarily . The assessors are just that - assessors. They aren't even necessarily doctors . They are people with some unspecified medical knowledge .

They have a questionnaire on a computer that allows yes or no answers and a short standard test to perform physically on you.

in my case no, they just got silly when I tried to explain mind fog - mind you I was having difficulty explaining it ti myself too. If they do this to you get a friend or other person eith you to show how dissapointed they are in their attitude. Good luck, sometimes we strike lucky.

I was curious about this too. I have been advised to keep a medical diary and think this may come in handy when they ask you specific questions, as when you write down what has occured to you, you will be clearer and more able to use this to reply. I am sure it won't hurt if you say you want to check you medical diary so you do not have to rely on memory alone. At least I hope not. If they do look phased, maybe ask them if they can describe how things were for them on the toilet 3 days ago! Sounds rude, but so do some of the questions.

i struggled to go to my assesment yesterday , now im back on morphine patches wracked with pain in bed . i did ask the assesor if she had any knowledge of fm and think she took it personally , she told me she was a registered nurse as though that should be enough but so was i ,but until i began suffering with fm i had no real knowledge of it ,
