Yes this is a problem, however, if you haven't done so do discuss this with your GP as there are other causes and help with the problem. All the best. Lou x

I can emphathise with you I think when we are having a bad flare it upsets our whole system. I will have the bad symptoms of IBS when I am really under the cosh and my stomach just seems to ache and gnaw day and night. I don;t know whether it is because sometimes we up the meds and that doesn't help. As I know with my OH if you have severe migraines it is as though your digestion comes to a halt and can cause nausea and pain and horrible bloating and discomfort. I never realised until I read up on it more that IBS is a classic symptom of fibro.

I am presuming from your post that you are having a bad flare. I sincerely hope that it ends soon.x

I get this with fibro flare up and with migraines, often. I had my first hemiplegic migraine about a month ago, was semiparalysed, very scary, does this happen to you ?

Yes the first time I had a Hemiplegic I was put in the stroke unit for a few days. My whole left side goes completely numb its happening for 3 years now. I take Topiramate to control them .

Thanks for replying, this is exactly what happened to me, afterwards i had 11 migraines in 22 days. Yesterday I went to eat a sandwich and I could not swallow, its like my swalliw mechanism is temporarily paralysed it is very scary as you are choking, this has happened on 3 seperate occasions and I am wondering if this is also a part of it ? I have tried topirimate and could not tolerate this as well as many other drugs. How often do you get these types of migraine? Does the topirimate stop them occuring completely?

Yes I haven't had since on topirimate, its really hard to go on, I have suffered with depression for 20 years and very time I had to go up and dose to work up to ur maximum you get very emotional and tearful and lash out at your loved ones but its worth it in the end. I still get migraines and I get pins and needles in my left hand and foot but I never go numb :)

Hi I get IBS off & on, bad cramps, sweats etc. I also have problems with swallowing at times but have no idea what the cause of this is. X

I am so genuinely sorry to read that, and I sincerely hope that you can find some resolution and relief to this issue. I also have this problem, and sometimes I think it is related to some of my medications. I would also recommend that you discuss this with your GP if you have not already just to get other things ruled out of the equation. I want to genuinely wish you all the best of luck.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken

I only found out recently that the problem with my bowels (danger: grossout warning: alternating constipation and diarrhea)is IBS and is VERY common with fibro and CFS/ME. saw my GI doc, now take fiber, stool softener and probiotic. recently recurrent constipation, doc said to take a laxative. I was very reluctant bec. I didn't want to swing into the other direction with diarrhea. finally took laxative. have had to take it 3 times a day and it's helping.

I have found that Psyllium Husk is very good for dealing with constipation. It is a natural source of fibre and sort of flushes things through. A small measure is dissolved in warm water and then drunk. It is a bit like drinking sand. You then drink another 1/2 pint of warm water to help it move along. It has worked really well for me.
