Just caught the "Dr Hilary" helpline on my way out and they were discussing Fibromyagia... He admits that GP's aren't very good at managing this condition and you should have a specialised exercise plan from a physio. I never got this- did anyone else? And is it worth asking?

I was told physio wouldn't help me by a physiotherapist 🙁

in reply to Kat36

Hi Kat I think I would question that response! I go to a specialist physio for hydrotherapy and a physio for ground excercises-both are well clued up on fibro.

I attend a pain management programme where there are different illness's etc! So not everyone there has the same condition.

We are all given exactly the same exercise's to do, some of which has to modified a bit for people who are in wheelchairs.

The OT and Physio watch upon us carefully and I have to say that there's a improvement in everybody!

It's like anything else: we all believe in different things! x

If you set your mind, it will work................ x

I have doubts even Dr Hilary knows much about the condition either: just needed to show "interest" because it Fibro Week! It would have been much better if HE had acquired some excercises from a physio before going on the programme and using a volunteer with or without fibro to show people how to do stretching, maybe even go one further and take the show over to a Hydropool with a real sufferer going thru a routine with a physio.. Cheap tele I say!

I was given a series of movements to do by physio, it has kept me mobile, does nothing for pain but at least I can still get about with crutches albeit at a snails pace xx

I see improvements with keeping a good posture going to chiropractor, massage, and safe paced exercises- like exercises for injured muscles. It doesn't help the all pain but it does help with some. Also magnesium oil has helped.

It probably depends on the person, like everything.

But I don't go to a physical therapist. I am attempting to figure it out on my own as much as I can before I go spending a bunch of money for them to tell me stuff I can find on the Internet. I'll go when there is stuff I can't figure out. :)

Hi Lisawt80

I undertake a daily 20 minute physio routine which consists of very gentle exercises aimed at keeping me subtle and moving. They were given to m by my physio after my Fibro diagnosis. I have always found them extremely useful.

I want to sincerely wish you all the best of luck, and please take care of yourself.

All my hopes and dreams for you

Ken
