Hi I am newly diagnosed with FM and was wondering if there is a particular diet I can follow or any food that I should avoid, not sure and my GP just advised me to research stuff myself. Any advice would be great thanks

Hi there
Welcome to our wonderful forum 😊 You have found a fantastic place to come for help, advice and sharing of experiences.
The forum is full of kind, caring and compassionate people and I have made some truly wonderful life long friendships since I've been on here.
As you are newly diagnosed you may like to have a look at our mother site for more information on Fibromyalgia fmauk.org
Please would you mind having a quick look at our HealthUnlocked guidelines which you will find pinned to the right of your screen.
For the sake of Internet safety it is a good idea to lock your post. Instructions on how to lock posts are again on the right of your screen in blue titled Step by Step Instructions on how to lock your posts.
If you need any help, please don't hesitate to let me know.
I am not the best person to advise you on the correct diet, but hopefully there will be people along soon to help you out.
The biggest thing to remember about Fibro is that what works for one person may not work for another. It is very much a case of trial and error. Keeping a food diary is probably the best way forward to begin with.
I look forward to chatting with you again.
Wishing you less pain and more peace

Hi and welcome.I eat pretty much what I like.Never found anything that seems to affect me good or bad.I suggest taking Lu, s advice as her suggestions are normally great!! Good luck.Peck🍰🍔🍟
I havnt found a food that affects my fibro symptoms but quite a few aggravate my IBS.
Unfortunately many people's diet is restricted with fibro because like myself and many others we have IBS so often the foods we think we should eat to be healthier don't agree with us.
If you find you can eat most foods do try to eat a diet which contains the least additives and has the most fresh veg and fruit you can eat. Many people find that even if they are on only a few meds that alcohol des not suit them and others have found that if they go gluten or dairy free they make an improvement.
I do think it is a case of trial and error. A good idea perhaps is to do a food diary for a couple of weeks and anaylse how you feel after certain foods are eaten. This way you may start to see a pattern of what foods seem to make you feel better and what make you feel worse. Good luck with it all.x
Hi Cazpowell
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today?
Welcome to the forum and it is wonderful to make your acquaintance. I am lactose intolerant and allergic to quite a few food stuffs including red fruits, soya and bananas. I think it is going to be a question of trial and error on the diet front as we all appear to have different intolerance's.
I want to genuinely and sincerely wish you all the best of luck.
All my hopes and dreams for you

Advise from other Fibro memebers was to top up on vitamins that we don,t store well, I bought magnesium, Vit D and Vit B6 yesterday, look in Holland & Barrett or local Superdrug for advise... Diet wise, smaller portions, keep the fats down, I was a sz 20 3 years ago and now I,m sz16 again. I believe medication might have contributed to this but like many sufferers I put up with the "cellulite" rather than the pain.. My son-in-law uses a coeliac diet and its helping his OA and weight loss
Hello Caz,
I have found a normal healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables is best. Plus get as much sleep as you can, I know it's difficult but it helps the pain. Reduce stress, which again is very difficult as that can cause an increase in pain too.
Take care
