Got to ask if anyone has a bad snorin... - Fibromyalgia Acti...
Got to ask if anyone has a bad snoring issue, i was told by Hospital staff when i was in recently, not asked GP yet?
Hi, I was asked this by the Rheummy . My husband is always complaining about it. My GP said that it effects the quality of sleep and so you'r not so rested in the morning. My GP had to ask me some questions about my sleep to see if I should go to a sleep clinic. According to the questionarre, I'm OK.
Hi Yes I know what you mean! I often feel I have to apologise when I go in! It is a good idea to get proper advise though. Good Luck!
Hi Hawkeye52
I sincerely hope that you are feeling as well as you possibly can be today? As woodbon says it really does affect your quality of sleep and then you are left feeling yukky all the time!
I would discuss the situation with your GP if I were you, as there are tests that can be done to see how bad it is.
Take care
Ken
Go to GP and ask for referral to a sleep clinic. You need to be tested for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Snoring is one of the first signs. I'm not going to scare you but there is loads of info on the net but you need to see a sleep specialist first. Xx
I recently went on holiday with my mom & step dad & hadn't any idea I snored, when I actually get to sleep, she joked it was so loud people at home could here me & we were in Spain. I never used to snore & have had Fibro diagnosed for 20 years so only could think it's with Gabbapentin or Morphine & weight gain that could be responsible I haven't been to see my Gp about it, will be interested to see what other people reply also Karen
thanks for this, yes am on Pregabilin morphine and have gained weight, as you say could be combo of drugs and the disease itself?
Hello Hawkeye 52,
Do get it checked out as soon as possible.
To cut a short story long, I was diagnosed with Diabetes 2 and blamed my car accident on diabetes related daytime sleepiness.
During my treatment for whiplash, I was asked if I snored. I said yes and was initially referred to an ENT specialist who asked me to complete a short questionnaire and stuck a flashlight tube thing down my throat and confirmed that I was indeed a snorer - which I already knew, but what he did next surprised me, he referred me to a Sleep Clinic!
Several sensors were attached to different parts of my body and my sleep was recorded overnight. It transpired that I actually stopped breathing up to 38 times during Each hour of sleep. My snoring and breathing stops for a few seconds - a couple of minutes before my breathing kicks back in with a snort or sharp intake of breath.
My snoring issue has not been resolved completely even though I've lost some weight and being encouraged to lose even more. What I do have to contend with is a CPAP machine which really helps with the apnea by pushing air into my nose and mouth throughout the night, forcing my natural breathing reflexes to maintain a regular flow. It makes me look and sound like Darth Vader - which is not particularly attractive unless you're into that sort of thing!
My Rheumy made a distinct link between my Sleep Apnea and Fibro.
Wish you all the best - check it out and put your mind at ease.
Stay Strong, Stay Positive.
Fight the Fibro!
Thanks this is really useful, never thought about the ENT angle but is worth exploring, am due to start my Biologics treatment in a few weeks (have RA and Fibro) am def going to GP regarding the sleep issue, the advice from you guys (the real experts) has finally made my mind up. love the Darth Vader thing, sounds like the answer, i guess as they develop they will become more mobile and smaller.
will let you know what they say?
thanks again for finding the time to replay to my question
