Hi I'm a new member, has anyone else found their fibro symptoms really increased with the menopause? Struggling with tiredness. X

Hi,

Welcome Furry. You'll love being a member of this forum :-).

Can't say I have noticed personally. I am exhausted all the time. Have you had a blood test to see if you are anaemic? This can happen during menopause and that will make you extra tired.

Hugs

Hi thanks for replying I've had a blood test and that's ok, I seem more tired when I have lots of flushes so might try something herbal for them. X

I used wild yam at one point and also sage tablets. But if you go the herbal route, as I did, make sure you check with your GP or your pharmacist to prevent any clash with medication you take. Flushes seem to be part of the Fibro trouble as well as going with the menopause :-(

Thanks, will do that. Unfortunately fibro seems so sensitive to anything else you might have going on as well. Just have to take a deep breath and carry on . X

Yes I am also struggling to keep awake and if I sit for any length of time I just drift off! Bit hard if it is quite at work, got to move if I feel it coming lol, not good x

Hi Furry and welcome to the forum, it is the best place for advice, support and friendship :-) There is a lot of information if you click in the FibroAction box with the butterfly in at the top right of the screen, well worth reading :-)

I'm sorry you are having such a rough time, on the subject of the menopause as I had a hysterectomy in my 30's and although I hadn't had a proper diagnosis at that point, I definitely felt more exhausted, and it took me far far longer to recover from the op, so I think it probably was the fibro kicking in. I was working at that point too, although only part time, and I would end up in bed every afternoon, completely exhausted and in such pain. It must be very hard struggling to keep awake at work.

I'm sending lots of positive vibes your way and look forward to seeing you around in future :-)

Foggy x

Welcome Furry.

Yes, I am mid-50s and still having periods. I am exhausted and need to sleep every day for one to two hours and that's even after getting up very late! I feel my tired ness is getting worse though can't say whether it's fibro, pre-menopause or both.

Hi Kirby

Yes it's hard to judge what makes you so tired, I returned to work today after a month off due to a flare up. Having a phased return so just worked til lunch time. I fell asleep on the bus coming home and missed my stop! Then had a 2 hour snooze when I got home. If they could find a cure for the tiredness that would be amazing because its as bad as the pain sometimes. Take care and thanks for the welcome x

Hi Furry, and welcome, I am a new member too :)

I am 49 and had a hysterectomy when I was 44 so don't have periods any more but lately have been very tired.

Not sure if it's the medications, the Fibro or what. Blood tests show I am not yet in full menopause, whatever that means, but have been having night sweats lately too, not bad ones but there all the same. They started around the time my GP increased one of the medications, so that could be linked or a coincidence!

Take care x

Hi pippa49'

Thanks, from all the answers I think it's probably both but neither one helps the other! A trip to the GP I think. So glad I found this forum, it's so good chatting to people who know exactly how you are feeling. Take care x x
