COVID between cycles and impact on egg quality ... Any knowledge/ experience?

Hey all - so I was meant to start my next cycle of IVF in 3 weeks time. I have been so healthy; haven't caught a cold or even a sniffle for the past 12 months but have somehow managed to pick up COVID from somewhere. I've had 3 vaccines and COVID once before but am still testing very positive 6 days later - and its hit me quite hard given the urban legend circulating that one would be nearly invincible from it after 3 shots and a live round. I've asked my consultant if I should still proceed in 3 weeks and have received an ambiguous response: "evidence is slightly lacking ... no strong opinion to suggest you should postpone treatment. Could wait 28 days from when you start to feel better to start your cycle, though there is no requirement for this..happy to follow your lead". I've asked whether the 28days is just to make sure COVID has cleared my body but am confused by this response. Does anyone have any knowledge or experience of getting COVID between cycles and whether it has an impact on your egg quality? Am 44 so egg quality is all I really think about lol!! And I'd have to delay my treatment by 44 days ... So am just sitting here wondering whether my age or COVID has a worsening impact at this stage on the quality of my eggs. From reading I've seen once COVID is in the body its here for a while regardless of the 3 months needed to nurture a new egg?? xx

Hi  Rubylou01 , both my partner and I caught Covid literally two days after starting stims (I actually posted here about it!).

Our clinic was super strict and required us to postpone the treatment for 70 days from when my partner was negative due to the possibility of Covid affecting sperm quality, but they didn’t mention it affected egg quality (and I found no hard evidence online). 70 days is an exaggeration in our view and we have been speaking to other clinics and all were surprised about the length of the wait.

It’s difficult to know who’s right because each clinic has its protocol. Whilst we were really upset about it, in the end we just accepted it and thought that a 2 month wait was really not going to make a difference in our lives in the grand scheme of things.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and all the best with what you decide ☺️

Hi Chocomuffin - thank you for replying - really helpful. Have just read your previous post and the responses as well - sorry to see the clinic so immovable on 70 days (I understood sperm recycled every 6 weeks) but if the delaying advice was for sperm quality issues (which isn't a factor in my case) then that's really helpful if egg quality isnt seen to be affected. And your research seems backed up by other ladies understanding as well which is very reassuring :) thank you for your advice!! Xx

Hi, I've caught covid twice since starting this ivf journey. The 2nd time was a month before starting stims, i am now almost 41 weeks pregnant from that cycle. Xxx
