Am I entitled to 3 rounds IVF if doctor refers to a borough that offers 3? (Mine only offers 1)

We are going privately for a a micro tese as Frimley Health doesn’t offer it on the NHS. That’s going to cost us minimal £6,500 which is a big chunk of our IVF savings.

We are only entitled to one shot at IVF in our area and are thinking to be referred to North Central London which is close by and offers 3 rounds.

Has anyone done similar? Doctor said he will happily refers us but I spoke to someone at NCL ICB and they said we can have the treatment in London but will still only be entitled to one round?

Help. Terrified to be referred and have to go back to the bottom of the list and still only get one go xxx

I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through. Unfortunately the funding for your treatment comes from the CCG (clinical commissioning group)/health board where you live, wherever you are treated, not from the hospital you are seen and treated. So if the CCG/LHB rules are for 1 cycle only that would follow you wherever you go for treatment. Can you speak to the hospital clinic you are thinking of being referred to to clarify but I believe what I’ve said above is correct.

We struggled to get NHS funding due to my AMH and so had to go private from the start and pay for my laparoscopy, so I feel your pain.

Yes I think endofitall is correct. It’s down to where you live not where the hospital is.

It’s based on the ICB funding, not what hospital you chose to go to. I got offered one round of IVF and that’s all it took. Don’t lose hope!!
