how to deal with work

Hi, having read through most posts it seems I’m well behind most of you and starting my treatment next month.

I wanted to know how you approached work? I am full time and in office 5 days a week. I’m in a male dominated environment where pregnancy related news is not usually well received. Where any of you in the same situation and how did you deal with having so much time off work for scans etc?

Any experiences or advice welcome!

Hi,

I have been in a simular situation since the beginning of last year and I'd advise you not to worry. I found being honest with my employer has helped but they also do not need to know everything because its a personal private matter.

My working environment is male dominated and my manager has been very supportive with appointments. It's worth checking your contract of employment to see where you stand for paid time off for doctor/clinical appointments. Speaking with your HR team may be useful.

I hope this helps

hi,

My work were less supportive so to avoid any awkward conversations or rushing to/from work, I took holiday days to have scans/ transfers etc.

I found it easier to do that and then I had the whole day to relax pre/ post appointment rather than clock watching at work to make sure I could get there in time.

It’s easier once you are going for pregnancy scans as you are essentially an NHS patient and there is usually some provision to allow women to have time off work for midwife appointments etc so that’s much easier to navigate xx
