OTD! Can’t help but feel worried!

Hi everyone, so today is OTD and although my tests are still positive I don’t feel the lines have got any darker. I’ve been using the wondfo strips which have good reviews and seem to work well for others with a good line progression. I have also tested with clear blue digital and it is still saying 1-2 weeks? What are peoples experiences with these? I should be 4weeks +4 today. My boobs are super sore but they usually are before period too so that’s nothing to go by 🤦🏼‍♀️ bloated and frequent urination.

I’ve called the clinic and expressed my concerns and the nurse is going to call me back I’m still waiting but feel so anxious. I’m hoping the will check my hcg levels.

It’s hard to see much on these as obviously they are dry but just to give an idea… if anything I feel todays is a bit lighter xxx

I have spoken to my clinic and the nurse advised she is not concerned and that if there’s two lines it’s a bfp she said not to do blood hcg checks, she explained that urine only detects what is excreted and is not an accurate representation of the blood hcg. So has booked my viability scan for the 3rd January. I feel like I should be much more excited about my positive, however I just can’t stop myself feeling anxious that the lines haven’t progressed as I know this is not normal… so now two weeks of worrying all over Christmas 🤦🏼‍♀️

Can really relate, but please take my advice. Stop testing. You are pregnant! Don't drive yourself mad looking at lines, honestly. All it does is bring anxiety. Try to set yourself a challenge to not test for a week. Also the ClearBlue tests count from conception, not gestational age, so it's always roughly 2 weeks behind. Xxx

I second this advice 👆👆 Repeat testing is a very expensive anxiety provoking hobby. You could do a HCG test if you really want to - it’s probably more cost effective!

Just to reassure you, when I had a BFP last year, my line didn't get any darker until about 4 days after my official test day. Wishing you all the best! X

Hello sweets,

I was so scared to do a HPT that I just had bloods - they then called to say it was positive...

I really really wanted to see a positive test for once in my life so I finally plucked up the courage to test at home (KNOWING I was pregnant and having had 2 scans already) at 8 weeks and it wasn't dark at all! I was actually really surprised...

So don't worry too much about the colour of the line.

Much love xx

if your clinic do HCG I would push hard for them to do it for you. I know they said not needed but it is for your peace of mind. Which is important too, especially at this time of year!

I’m not familiar with these types of tests so I can’t really comment on the line progression in them (not sure if it’s the end line or the middle one for pregnant?) and I know clearblue can be very unreliable for the weeks part of it but if I still had a 1-2weeks when I was over 4 weeks I would still worry none the less so I can see why you e asked this question. If you feel your tests aren’t where they should be only really bloods will help as the tests do send you into a crazy world of constant testing (I use pink dye tests that are a little clearer and then the clearblue weeks but it’s still the same not as conclusive as bloods!) so many things influence the tests like length of hold how much you’ve drank etc and for some people they just never get super dark!! As long as they aren’t progressively fading over a number of days then like the clinic said a positive is a positive! Hoping it all works out for you xx

Hi Twiglet2, thank you for your reply :)

I know I thought the same I was quite pushy on the phone asking for blood test but she just shut me down, I was quite frustrated after as it’s easy for them to say not to worry, but really it’s all I can think about. I have ended up booking a private early scan for next week when I will be 6 weeks, just for the peace of mind if nothing changes before then xx

I did the same totally understand why you would! And my clinic were the same with blood tests. Good luck with it all!! Xx

Hi you could also look into a private HCG blood test before the private scan you have booked if it gives you peace of mind. Until then just try and think ‘All is well’ unless you’ get evidence of any of the worrisome symptoms. This is what got me through. Hope that helps x

I've got no advice except to say I'm with you in solidarity. My OTD was last Friday and it was pretty faint, but the clinic told me a positive is a positive. Aside from a cheeky digital on Saturday (which showed 1-2 weeks at 12dpt just like you!) I have withheld testing since for my own sanity, but the wait over Christmas for the viability scan (mine is two days after yours) is agony. I just wanna know what's going on in there. It doesn't help that yesterday I had a little bleed (it's thankfully stopped) so it's been a right rollercoaster, finding it hard to stay positive while meanwhile my wife is downloading baby name apps!

I'm wishing you all the luck. Your symptoms sound reassuring and hopefully your private scan will show all is well!

your test would only say 1-2 weeks because you conceived 1-2 weeks ago. It would say 3-4 if you were more like 6-7 weeks pregnant. Xxx

Hi thank you for your reply but I’m Sorry I have to disagree at 4+4 weeks then the reading should be saying 2-3 weeks at 4 and a half weeks, 3+ at 5 weeks onwards.. as you add two weeks on to the tests. Especially after getting my first bfp at 6dp5dt the hcg would’ve been much higher. However I have posted an update xx

hi BabyDust23

Push for what feels right for you. You’re paying for your treatment and you should feel heard and acknowledged. Leaving to worry over the Xmas break isn’t right. I hope you can speak to someone else at your clinic or get a private blood test to alleviate your anxiety.

Hope you have a restful Xmas break x

Hi everyone, just wanted to post an update as I know people often search and it’s nice to know the outcome. Firstly thank you for all the reassurance, it certainly helped during a worrying time. I know some people say not to test often as it can cause anxiety, but for me after bleeding at 6dp5dt testing was the only thing that was keeping me sane and giving me reassurance to see the two lines. However as the lines didn’t progress I knew in my heart it hadn’t continued but was obviously hoping for the best outcome.. again for me I’m glad I did as I would’ve been more shocked at getting a BFP on OTD for then a BFN a few days later, I feel it gave me the warning.

So, yesterday at 15dp5dt my lines were lighter with 1st morning urine, and the clear blue digital then said not pregnant. I contacted the clinic who provided no reassurance at all, the nurse wouldn’t even speak to me and advised the receptionist to tell me to retest in 1 week and update them. I was understandably upset and felt let down especially at this time of year being expected to continue my meds and worry all over the Christmas period.

I called my GP and explained my situation and they were so understanding and agreed to check my blood HCG, which unfortunately confirmed my concerns, it was negative with a level of 8. So I am now taking it upon myself to stop all meds, have a nice bath, and probably a couple of alcoholic beverages over the Christmas period.

Thank you all again for your support and reassurance and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and have you all in my thoughts and prayers 🙏🏼🎄
