Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing as well as they can be on this crazy IVF rollercoaster.
Just want to see if anyone has any thoughts or has been through a similar situation...
My sister in law has breast cancer and has tested positive for BRCA1 (caught early and doing well thankfully). My husband is awaiting a genetic test so we don't know yet if he has the mutation.
We are due to do a FET with one of the two euploid embryos we have (we did PGT-A due to recurrent failures).
My father in law who carries the gene mutation wants us to consider PGT-M on the embryos. Understandably he is feeling upset and guilty. But it's also not his call.
The dilemma is if it's positive we can't implant. Although there is a raised chance of adult cancer, this might also never happen. My father in law is 72 and cancer free...
Do we test and risk loosing our two precious embryos and the chance of a sibling (this is our last go, we had a successful round 3 years ago). Or are we doing the sensible thing and hopefully they will come back free of the mutation?
Any input would be welcomed!
❤️
