Tips for getting through the 2WW

Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone had any good coping mechanisms until its test day. I'm only a day in and I want to try and stay optimistic (I'm not).

This would be my 4th round of IVF and I'm just eating my own head with 'what ifs' and I think my last google search was 'what's the best position to sit in during the 2ww' lol.

Are there any mindful apps/podcasts or something I can bury my head into? I love the idea of something that gives me a day by day task list to occupy my mind.

TIA xx

Hello! I’m also in my two week wait and going insane! However, at the beginning when I was off work, I found that getting stuff sorted in my house helped. I did a big clear out of my spare room (dumping ground) and organised a few bags of clothes for the charity shop. Having my own check list of small jobs and ticking them off has was satisfying and stopped me thinking of all the ‘what ifs’. However, my biggest advice would be to avoid testing before your clinic has told you to. I tested 6dpt ( I’m now 9dpt) and it was a BFN which has only added to the torture and has made the 2WW so much worse. Up until that point, I had been doing okay but now motivating myself to stay positive and busy has gotten so much harder. Wishing you all the best and hope your 2WW goes quickly. ❤️ xx

That's really good tip re making my own list. I can give that a go certainly.

I've refused to buy any pregnancy tests until test time as I know I'd cave.

Thanks for taking the time out to message. Sending you solidarity and llgs of good wishes xx

Hi I hope you’re going strong on the 2ww.

I’d say try to stay busy , find new hobby or do something you enjoy, starting a new book or a new show, seeing friends etc. In my case working as normal and being more in the office also helped to make the weeks go quicker. I found wfh a bit harder so whenever I felt anxious I just went for a little walk. In overall I did walk a lot everyday to keep myself active and read it helps with circulation. Try to avoid symptom spotting, you might not get any symptoms and that can also be ok, the only way to find out is waiting for your OTD.

Wishing you all the best of luck ! I hope everything goes well!

Also in my 2 ww and my 5th ET!Lots of good advice already given. Keep busy with tasks - it prevents the mind from wondering and thinking things which may cause you trouble later on.

All the best to everyone!

I think they should just put us in and induced coma for 10 days until test day 🤣🤪 I’m on day 4 of my 2WW number 16 (6xIUIs and 10 IVF transfers) and honestly things ‘help’ but can never truly take your mind off it altogether in my experience.

I find a mixture of keeping busy at work but also taking a few days off to do something nice is helpful. I go walks with the dog and find a good Netflix series to binge calming or at least distracting. There is also the mindfulivf app that helps with whatever stage you are at the journey (I usually listen to this in the morning or if I can’t sleep). Apart from that I’m an early tester so I just reduce the ‘wait’ cos it helps me deal with the outcome gradually (not for everyone) as there’s no prizes for waiting until the arbitrary date the clinic give you (my tests dates from the same clinic have ranged from 9 days after to 16!). I used to be annoyed at myself for that but now in like hey this is my body and my pee I will test when I like 🤣🤣🤣

Wishing you lots of luck and hope you get to relax into a bit more as the days go by 🤗💜 xx

Thank you all so much for sharing! xx

I've found the weekend go by ok which has been good. I'm dreading the return to work (I opted for 3 days off post transfer) because I'm prefer to keep moving to keep my mind occupied, and sitting in front of a computer will have have me drifting off too much.

This will be my 4th transfer (first one was a success which im eternally grateful for), then no 2 was chemical and no3 didn't go past 9 weeks. I think the trauma of the last round has been most unsettling.

Sorry that you’ve had a tough ride , MC are awful, my first transfer ended as a MMC , I asked others to tell me positive stories and many ladies on here shared that they got lucky on their next attempt after it, fingers crossed this will be your lucky time ! Keep strong xx sending you all the best of luck !

Today was my test day and things are heading in the right direction (I'm too afraid to say it out loud).

I've called the clinic who have told me to pop by for a blood test to help ease my mind because I'm feeling unsettled about the next 2 weeks and the first scan. I know I should celebrate jumping over this first hurdle but I can't just yet. The clinic will also advise on whether I need to switch up my meds. Atm it's cyclogest x2 a day.

I'm desperately scanning for natural HCG boosters... so welcome any tips if you have any xx
