I've been attending my clinic for the last two months trying to begin my (probably) last fresh cycle. Prior to this we had a cancelled cycle and just before that a collection with no embryos. So it's been a hard few months with this. Been basically trying to bank embryos for a year after a tragic loss but there have been a lot of issues.
My follicles have been really misbehaving and seem to be ahead of my period (ie. Growing earlier than expected which has been really disconcerting). With this in mind the clinic told me to go in when I began spotting rather than waiting for full bleed. Based on scan and bloods taken at time of spotting they have given the green light to start my cycle so will see what happens with that🤞 please keep your fingers crossed for me that I get some response this time!

can I ask why follicles growing earlier than expected is disconcerting please? You mean in a natural cycle or during stimulation?
I have had this, ie the ovary racing ahead each month with a big follicle from Day 3-4 of the menstrual cycle ( resulting in ovulation around day 8-10) which meant cancelling the ivf cycle. I was always told to come back next month after taking the oral contraceptive, which sorted things.
I am nearly 40 but I had this for many years.
when I asked why does this happen if it is a problem for egg quality etc I never got an answer. "It's one of these things, it's just happens..some women.."
Thank you. Basically when I've been going in for baseline Day 2 scans I've already had follicles that have been racing ahead and would indicate I'm further along in my cycle than I actually am. This is without any medication. I must say the doctor has not expressed concern, the disconcerting feelings are my worry feelings. It's made it a struggle to know when to start and I've been in a bit of no man's land. I was not able to have the pill first, for concern that my ovaries may then stay not wake up properly when stimmed due to low reserve.

Thank you for thinking of me. Sadly I got the news this week that I am not pregnant. Was really hopefully that lucky embryo number 7 would be the one. Sadly that is it for us. No more IVF. No more chances. We will need to reimagine our lives as a childless couple. I am still pleased I cancelled the previous cycle and did the replacement cycle. Not only did the replacement cycle go much better, I feel like I proved the consultant wrong who just assumed because of my age that my AMH must be through the floor and therefore 1 or possibly maximum 2 eggs is all I could ever hope for and that her super duper all singing all dancing protocol couldn't possibly not be right for me! I hope that your new cycle goes really well and you get your baby out of it. Wishing you all the very best Xxx
Hi Koala, I'm truly sorry to learn this news, I know it is not what you had hoped for and you put your heart and soul into it. I am pleased to hear that you are glad you tried again with a protocol you knew was better suited to you. Whatever path is next for you please take good care of yourself
