Is ERA test after miscarriage at 7 weeks worth it?

Hi all. I’m a bit lost and looking for any thoughts/advice. In a nutshell, 4 embryos from fresh cycle - 1st fresh failed, 2nd frozen BFP but ended in miscarriage at 7 weeks, 3rd frozen failed. We have one left - one last chance and then I have to stop as I’m exhausted and I feel the age gap between my daughter (almost 7) and a sibling would be too big. So my question - is ERA something I should consider even though one of the transfers ended in short lived BFP? Does that suggest the transfer timing is right so why bother checking? I would really appreciate any info/advice. Thanks so much everyone and happy weekend x

Hi CamelaLily,

I have had Emma, ERA and Alice. I have had 3 natural pregnancies and all were ectopic. I have had a successful IVF with the usual timeframes and I have had 9 failed FET (1 miscarriage, 1 chemical)

The ERA in my case showed I needed an additional day progesterone. Unfortunately that was last year and I’ve had 3 transfers since without success so I can’t vouch for the success of this change.

The very best of luck with it all.

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry to hear of all this heartache. It’s all so cruel. Thank you so much for your reply and for sharing your experience. There seems to be very mixed reports about this test and it’s hard to know what to do. I hope you have success if you choose to continue and get your second miracle. Thank you again x

Heya,

I had a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks after a frozen transfer. My clinic suggested doing the EMMA test, and that my partner did the DNA sperm fragmentation test. The test showed that I had low lactobacillus levels, so I used the vaginal canesflor pessaries for a long time before starting a fresh cycle. My partners tests came back fine.

This fresh cycle has thankfully worked so far (almost 8 weeks). It’s still early days and I’m not sure if it was this that changed the outcome or a combination of this and egg quality. I took loads of supplements recommended by a nutritionist to help with fertility and endometriosis. A also did acupuncture for both transfers that implanted. I’m not sure if this made a difference but I found it very relaxing and it’s meant to help with blood flow to the uterus.

Wishing you all the best going forward xxx

Hello sorry to jump on here and congratulations. Can I ask did you take the canesflor continuously and how long for? Did you take it after transfer? Also what supplements did you take to help with endometriosis? Thanks in advance xx

Heya,I took the canesflor for at least 6 weeks but had breaks when I was on my period. I think 6 weeks continuously is what the clinic told me to do. I think I got through about 3-4 packs of 10 though before starting my cycle. I did it in the lead up to transfer too. I’ve only used one since transfer as I felt a bit itchy, and the clinic said they are fine to use before 12 weeks.

The supplements I’ve been taking is pre pregnancy Viridian one, an Omega-3, Bio-Kult probiotic and I was taking Biocare co-q10 in the lead up to the egg collection. After my miscarriage I also took magnesium malate to help with sleep. I got quite into running too to help me physically and mentally. And no worries, let me know if you have any other questions xxx

Thank you so much

I was told if I had managed to get pregnant (albeit miscarry) the ERA wasn’t of great value as it was looking at implantation window x

Sorry for your failed transfers and your loss 💙✨ I have had 4 FETs over the last 18 months, the first and third I have implantation (although very brief) and the other two failed completely. I've had lots of follow up consultations with different consultants and always agreed because I have had implantation, then an ERA wouldn't be helpful. They said it's far more likely to be the embryo. So I've just had another fresh round and have 2 tested eupoloid embryos to transfer (and another few untested in the deep freeze). So I think if you've had implantation, the ERA is less helpful. Good luck with what you decide xx
