Hair dye and TWW…

Is it ok to dye your hair in the two week wait? I’ve read that it’s best not to colour hair in the first trimester? I’m sure I know lots of people who colour hair right through pregnancy but I don’t want to take any risks that can be avoided. Does anyone have knowledge in this field please? Thank you xx

Check with your hair dresser as some professional hair dyes could be harmful if left on for a while . Maybe have something like highlights done using foils meantime . Or use a chemical free semi permanent dye which last at least 7/8 washes .Take care

Clinic told me that they used to recommend against it because of one of the chemicals in the dye and now that it isn’t in it anymore so they weren’t bothered. I think most hairdressers say it’s fine (I would check with yours directly).

You can get natural dyes off amazon/ boots which now which might be an alternative?

I always try and avoid it as I don’t want the ‘what if’ it’s cos I dyed my hair scenario and when I was lucky enough to get pregnant I used the ammonia free home dyes when my 🙈🫣🙊 greys started getting out of hand xx

I was told not to - and I didn't.....and I didn't after I got pregnant until after she was born!

I have a dye Naturitint that I use now, which is less toxic.

But when I do my transfer it is going to be regrowth central as going to avoid colour completely.....

I asked this very same question a couple of months ago! There are mixed responses, but some say wait until the 2nd trimester, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m not enjoying going around with grey roots but I’d rather do that than risk the ‘what if’.

However my mum told me that she coloured her hair in all 3 pregnancies, and we all turned out fine. But after ivf I wouldn’t take the chance so early on. X

That’s the thing with IVF we have been through so much so if I’m lucky enough to be preg I don’t want to take any risks. Think I’ll get foils for the first trimester to keep colour away from root xx
