Please can someone help me. My TSH at the GP was 2.5 and 2 days later at the clinic it was 4.8- is this a normal fluctuation?

Hi Judith. I believe there can be fluctuations and differences between different labs. However this fluctuation seems more than I would expect especially with only a two day gap. I wonder if other variables could be at play. Were the bloods taken at the same time of day as each other? Are you taking your Thyroxine at the same time every day without food or drink (other than water) for a good hour either side? Xx

I was thinking labs too! Monday I had zero thyroxine and Wednesday I would have had 3 doses of it! Taken a couple of hours apart in the 2 days. I’m praying this cycle doesn’t get cancelled 💖

It should not fluctuate that much in two days. Depending when you’re supposed to transfer the embryo, you will likely be tested again. You don’t want it high and risk your embryo. I hadmultiple cancelled cycles. I know it is devastating but losing an embryo is worse. I promise. Trust

Your body. If it is spiking, better to know before your lil one is on board. Good luck!!

Hi Judith. It can fluctuate. Perhaps it was left hanging around waiting for the test. Perhaps you need some medication to keep it below 2.5. Your clinic will retest I'm sure. Good luck! Diane

Thanks Diane, I’m on 50ml thyroxine. Is this type of fluctuation normal?

Hi. It can take a couple of months to settle, so will need checking again.usually a slower increase or decrease. Hopefully the 50mgs will be enough to keep the level low enough Diane
