To test one day early or not.

Hi it’s me again.

I swore I wouldn’t test early. But will one day make a difference? It would be day 10.

My rational is that our little one goes to nursery on a Friday early. So if it’s the worst I’ll have the full day to gather myself together for her?

Thanks for listening as per xx

Was it a day 5 blastocyst? If so, you'd probably get an accurate reading from a day 10 test. I understand wanting to schedule time to deal with a negative result 😫 Fingers crossed you'll be walking on air though and will be blessed with another miracle! 🙏 If you do get a BFN though I'd still make sure to test again on OTD as although rare, some people do have late implanters (that's why our clinics give us the OTD they do, after all) xx

So this is probably going to sound really bad but I’m not sure how many days it was 🤦🏻‍♀️ I didn’t even think to ask either. It’s from our round 3 years ago and I don’t know if it’s a day 3 or day 5! 😭 but will defo test on test day again if it’s negative like u say. We were a 4BB this time xx

Do you know how many days you were taking progesterone for before you had your transfer? That should tell you if it’s a day 3 or day 5 embryo xx

If you transferred a 5day then you can do a test on 10pt. Normally you start progesterone only few days before transfer. I started 6 days before transfer and transferred a day 5 blastocyst. How many days before transfer they gave you the appointment for the transfer? x

Thankyou. They gave us the appointment for transfer 8 days before after they’d scanned the lining x

I'm not surprised you can't remember 😆 that's a good while back. If your OTD is day 11 post transfer then guessing it was a day 5. But it doesn't really matter at all 😘 Hoping you get a good result xx

Okay thankyou we are going to test a day early. I do think it might be a 5 day blast. Does that mean it’s less of a quality? xx

Not at all! They aim to transfer 5 day blastocysts! Good luck xxx

Definitely not! If embryos make it to Day 5 that's really good news , that's what most clinics are looking for xx

Thankyou I’m clearly not up to speed 🤦🏻‍♀️ So the ones that got frozen at day 3 won’t be as good? xx

Well not necessarily. There are different schools of thought but most clinics these days like to let the embryos develop to day 5 blastocysts. Reason being, if they've got that far it seems likely they have a good shot of continuing to develop normally and hopefully implant. So if you have a few embryos doing OK, clinics usually now like to take the risk of letting them continue and transfer or freeze the ones that make that day 5 blastocyst stage. Almost a survival of the fittest thing. Useful to help them decide which will give the best chance, if a patient has quite a lot developing on day 3. But if only one or two eggs fertilised, some clinics give you the option of putting them back inside you on day 3, as they know you might end up with nothing to transfer or freeze come day 5. Some doctors feel in that situation the embryo is better off in your womb. In the past, all transfers were done at day 3, as the tech wasn't there to grow to blastocyst. I guess there isn't really a way to know if a day 3 embryo would have made a blastocyst if left for a couple more days... if you get a BFP then obviously it would have done as it made it, if you see what I mean 😆 But generally, the view of most clinics now seems to be if possible, they like the embryos to develop to blastocyst stage xx

But loads of babies are born from day 3 embies! Like I said, this used to be when they did all transfers xx

Okay so helpful thankyou!!

We were a freeze all situation!! I headed towards hyperstimulation. But we’re lucky enough to be blessed with 7 Frosties out of it!! So we did very well xx

I had a similar issue my test day I was going to be really busy so I tested the day before. Even if it's negative still keep taking any prescribed meds and test again on the true test day. Mine was negative but it helped me to deal with the disappointment on the day.
