Wrong Gonasi dosage, please help

So we injected the Gonasi syringe last night as directed by the clinic but we only used one vial of the 5000 units because it wasn’t clearly stated on the paperwork that I needed to open the other packet and use that vial as well! I’m having my egg retrieval tomorrow and I am absolutely devastated as I haven’t taken the 10,000 units as I should have done.

I called the clinic this morning and they said there’s nothing that can be done now, they will have to see how things are tomorrow, so there is definitely a chance that this will not work and I’ve completely messed it up, has anyone else gone through this? I can’t stop crying, I am so scared that all the hard work will have been for nothing 😢

Hi Auds, I only took 5000 but I was instructed to do so although originally it was meant to be 10000 and it was fine. I know at least one other person on here who took 5000 by mistake not the 10000 and there's went okay as well. If it was an really important issue they wouldn't go ahead with it. Don't beat yourself up about it. 5000 has worked for women on here! And take care of yourself for the collection.

Thank you Rain, the clinic said my eggs may still be ‘sticky’ and not matured enough so it might work and it might not, the nurse sounded a bit cross with me to be honest which has made me feel worse, just praying for good news 🙏

Keep us all posted! Never heard of sticky eggs! I got 10 mature out of 12. So doesn't necessarily mean they will all be immature! Wishing you all the best! X

Hi lovely, I've had a trigger mess up in the past.I was due to take 5000 Gonasi (which I was worried about not being strong enough anyway) and the needle popped off when I was injecting (at midnight) and I only got 70% of that.

I was CONVINCED that it wouldn't work and like you was a total mess, but went in for my egg collection and it was absolutely fine. Got all 14 of the eggs.

I think there is definitely a margin of error in all meds and 5000 Gonasi is enough for a lot of people.

Try not to stress too much - there's absolutely nothing that you can do at this point anyway.

This gives me great comfort Millbanks, thank you so much, there’s nothing that can be done now so I’m just hoping tomorrow goes well. It’s such an emotional journey isn’t it? The thought of having got this far only to mess it up by one mistake just terrifies me!

I was instructed to do 10 000, prepaid for 10 000 but on the day clinic rang and said do just 5 000. So have an unopened pack still in my fridge. I dont think it will greatly impact on the outcome otherwise why would my clinic change it to 5 000. Just my thoughts. Maybe this will give you piece of mind. Just dont stress over this too much now. It is done now. Wishing you all the best.

Please try not to get too upset.. although I know in the situation it's hard not too. But there are plenty if ppl that only trigger with 5000 hcg and are successful. I am sure you will collect something .. and those that you do collect will hopefully be the very best quality as your body will focus on the follicles and eggs they think have a chance and mature these. Sometimes more isn't always a good thing... who knows maybe the universe is working to help you ...
