Hi. My wife has got to have gonasi (trigger shot) tonight at 10.50. Out of curiosity, how/where does the clinic get the exact time from?
Gonasi ( trigger shot): Hi. My wife has... - Fertility Network UK
Gonasi ( trigger shot)
Hi Louisa
I think it's like 36 hrs before the EC time (don't quote me on that though!). Good luck for the EC, hope you get lots of lovely eggs 😊 xx
It’s down to the time the clinic has scheduled you for egg collection. They will have a list of ladies they are collecting from that day all scheduled for different times. Once they know this they tell each lady what time to do the trigger shot to ensure the eggs are matured and ready to collect at just the right time . Hope this helps. Xx
Thank you besgstan. That helps a great deal. Thanks x
You’re welcome. My first collection was scheduled for 7.30am and it snowed. Another couple were either just before or after me and due to the snow had driven to the clinic the night before and slept in the car bless them! God bless four wheel drive xx best of luck to you both xx
You don't realise how something like that can mess someone's whole ivf up. I hope they had great success.
Well my wife had to have her trigger shot at 10.50 last night . Her appointment is for 7.30 am. After lots of hassle at work, ive managed to get an hour off work and don't have to start until 10. ( i work 35min drive away from the clinic) . So i was hoping that she will be done and dusted as soon as we arrive. So by my calculations, her collection isn't going to be until 11.50 . Which means I will have to leave her there. 😟. My mum said she would step in but id of liked to have being there.
I'll be carrying my wife's egg, so I'll be taking time of work next week for the ET. And my work wont allow be to have any more time off 😟😟
All this stress and worrying is the last thing you both need. Totally get why you want to be there as she goes into and out of egg collection! If you phone the clinic they may be able to advise you of tighter timescales hopefully? My husband was lucky to have an employer that was flexible but I totally agree about you wanting to be there when she comes around from the sedative... not that you should have to choose one or the other but I would want to be there when she wakes up too. Hope work treat you well after your egg transfer. It’s frustrating that once pregnant employment law kicks in and gives you rights to attend pregnancy related appointments. Unfortunately a very grey area for those of us who need to use assisted conception. My employer was pretty good and stuck to the ‘guidance’ of treating me as pregnant until proven otherwise in the two week wait. Really am wishing you both the very best of luck! Got everything crossed for you both xx
Thank you besgstan for your lovely reply. What a good idea, im going to phone the clinic now.
Its hard because my contract at work is up for renewal as its only yearly. So if they get wind that i may be falling pregnant, they may not renue it. Ive had to make a lie up about going in late tomorrow and next week I'll have to phone in sick. Will it be Tuesday do you think for my ET? My clinic are useless and don't tell us anything. After paying them £12k you'd think we'd have them on call at the drop of a hat x
Ah you’re welcome. Although we are NHS my clinic I cannot say hand on heart is the best either. We go to a satellite clinic for scan and meds and they are a bit hit and miss, but the clinic where the collection and transfer happens are amazing! So if we get to a point where we need to pay private I would be happy with them. Not sure how your clinic works but at ours after egg collection they phoned us the day after (day 1) to confirm how many eggs fertilised. They then said to expect a call day 3 for an update. They also said be prepared for transfer on either day 3 or day 5. If by day 3 one embryo is a clear front runner they request you to come in for a 3day transfer. If it’s neck and neck they let them continue developing until day 5 blastocyst and choose the best quality one to transfer on day 5. That’s just based on our experience with our clinic. After collection they usually go through what will happen and it was always the embryologist themselves who phoned us to tell us how the embryos where doing and when to expect a call next. With the issues with work, I would hope if you called them your clinic could give you some info on how they do things post egg collection just to help you have you game plan sorted in terms of work and phoning in sick. Hope that makes sense. It might just help to have an idea of which days they will make decisions so you know when to make the calling in sick phone call etc xxx
Thank you besgstan for you replies. Well as we speak my wife is in Theatre having EC. Fingers crossed eh 😉.
I don't have a plan as to what I'm going to say about phoning in sick. Hopefully they do ET on Sunday, which will be day 3 .
Are you currently undergoing IVF? X
Fingers crossed for you both and hoping egg collection went well for your wife.
Yeah have just started meds for my second round of IVF. First round didn’t work so keeping everything crossed we get some luck this time xx
They collected 15 eggs 😃😃😃. We'll get a call in the morning to tell us how they have fertilised. All the best for you on your 2nd attempt. Fingers crossed for you xx
