Hi all I'm booked in for my 3rd transfer this week. My 1st transfer didn't implant and my second resulted in a miscarriage. So 3rd time is the charm and all that. Anyways the last 2 times I followed the eating guidance etc. This time I've kind of put 2 fingers upto that and eaten what I've wanted ie chocolate crisps drank tea etc. I've not drank alcohol though not taken the p*ss. I'm thinking from transfer I will eat better what's everyone else's views on this as I've felt less stressed not following it surely that's a good thing right xx

Hey lovely,

I’m a big believer in stress being far worse for you than a chocolate bar or a glass of wine when it comes to IVF. My cycles where ate perfectly and did all the right things were my worst. My fourth cycle which gave me my daughter I ate what I wanted, enjoyed my morning tea and had a glass of wine the night before my transfer 🤷🏼‍♀️

Living your life isn’t a bad thing. If you feel more relaxed this time around I think that’s a far better place to be in. Good luck!xxx

Thank you for you're reply and congratulations on getting there in the end.

I dud think it wouldn't hurt but your mind sometimes goes off in this process and logic doesn't always follow. Xx

I didn't give up anything before my successful FET - I'd added supplements before the collection and tried to keep to that and adding good fats in for the FET (not sure why now really), but otherwise no change. Prior to that I'd been relatively strict before one fresh transfer and taken time off work, not so much on the other, and they both were BFPs, but ended around 6 weeks, so made no difference. I think diet changes are more relevant to collection than transfer, if at all, although some people say certain foods are good for lining but really your hormones or the meds have control there. Also it's probably more about a good balance overall and nothing to excess, to maintain good general health and a good mood! Best of luck x

Hi Emma. I also had 2 failed transfers after being pretty strict with myself food wise. Just had my first BFP from my third transfer, and I relaxed much more this time. No alcohol, but I ate chocolate and crisps and enjoyed it! I agree the stress is worse, you need to be as relaxed as you can for this process, it’s hard enough as it is. Plus it’s Christmas 🎄😁

Hi, my doctor said two things that stuck with me when i was going through our cycles:1) IVF is stressful enough without restricting food or not having things you enjoy.

2) If specific foods were proven to work...they would be prescribed for you as they want it to be successful as much as you do!

All the best of luck!

Hey there, one of the biggest things I learned in this journey is that little we do will affect the overall outcome. While it is good to follow a healthy diet for your well-being, I doubt this will make a massive impact on your IVF success though we try to do what we can to avoid blaming ourselves later. I also think we want to feel like we are helping the process along.

I have learned that the chances of success are mainly based on 2 things: the embryo’s chromosomes and the uterine environment. People drink, smoke and use drugs throughout their pregnancy and still give birth to babies. I see it regularly in my line of work. Extreme examples I know but hope that puts it in context.

On a personal note, during the 2WW, while I generally eat a healthy diet, I still had my weekly takeaway and even ate junk food a couple of times because we were on the motorway planning a move. I still had my BFP.

So please don’t stress too much about being perfect with your diet. Enjoy your crisps and tea 😀 My philosophy is everything in moderation.

All the best with your cycle 🙏🏾
